We are first time DDP users and 1st time w/kids (3 y/o twins). I have made all my ADRs for early August for either early dinners, between 4-5:30 thinking this would be good for the kids, after a rest at Poly, less crowded in the restaurants and then we would do the parks after dinner.

Also, any opinions on Tony's, WCC and Sci-Fi - (my kids love milkshakes) and thought these would be good places since sometimes that's all they want. The rest of the family are very simple eaters, so burgers and fries will keep everyone happy.

Am I making a mistake by eating at this time? would appreciate any feedback from one of the "experts" Thanks.

ADR's : Cape May Buffet, Coral Reef, Kona, CP - Breakfast, Chef Mickey's Dinner and 'Ohana's TIA for any help.

I made all my ADR's for late afternoon as well and here's why: when we went during free DDP last year we had many ADR's that were around 8pm and my family was so full at bedtime that none of us could sleep comfortably. So this year I thought it would be better to eat early and then just use a snack credit later in the evening if anyone is feeling hungry at all.

Hi,
For your family those are probably good times to eat. The later in the dinner hour your ADR is, the longer you may have to wait to be seated to eat. It is hard for little ones to wait.
For us, this would not work at all. We are a family of 3 adults. We do not eat much breakfast (juice, coffee and we are off). On the DDP we ate our CS lunch most days between 12 and 1. We simply would not be hungry again at 5. The DDP is a lot of food. We made our evening TS ADR's for about 7:30 and this was better for us.
So with an early evening meal, eat your CS credit early in the day also.

If you eat earlier like this, you are sitting in the AC relaxing while the park outside is at its busiest. If it works for your stomachs, why not?

We try to eat between 5:30 and 6, the restaurants are not that busy.....

We try to make all of our evening meal adr's for the earliest possible seating, usually 5:00pm or 5:30pm. This works great for us. We have 2 children, 6yo and 7yo. We also have our meals at this time at home, so we're basically sticking with our regular schedule. By the time we're done supper, and have a swim it's getting close to bedtime for the kids.

I've made our ADRs (me, DH and DS -4) for around 5:30-6:00 every night for our 4 night trip except for one. On that one, it is the day we get there and we are going to Chef Mickey at 5:00, then on to MVMCP from there. Those times work well with us, since we will finish dinner about 7:00ish, when most others are going to dinner and we can walk, ride, etc. Also keeps the boy from melting down waiting for our dinner time! We are bringing stuff for breakfast (not big eaters of breakfast), then having a lunch around 11:30, maybe sharing a snack around 2:30 or so back at the room, then back to parks and dinner and more fun!

Thanks everybody - it helps to hear what works for other people who have more experience with Disney. Thanks again.

I didn't go in with this plan, but I was fortunate to get all of our evening ADR's at 5:30, right across the board. Sure makes it easy to know what time supper is. :)
