Early December - Crowds any idea

After travelling to Orlando last last November we had a discussion with several Disney all employees who all said the 1st two weeks in December were fairly quiet

With that in mind can anyone confirm, and let me know what kind of weather I can expect......I have checked a couple of the weather websites and it would seem the weather is fairly varied so I imagine a couple of warmer clothes are needed!

Early December is a lovely time too go, i went a few years ago and im going this year to get married there so i am a little bias!!

The crowds were really low, longest queue was about 10 mins! Its a good time to go aswell as you have all the christmas stuff going on, decorations everywhere, special shows and a special extended version of illuminations. There is also a special ticketed event - Mickeys very merry christmas party in the magic kingdom on selected evenings.

Weather wise, generally during the day you will be comforable in a tshirt and depending on how much you feel the cold a lightweight pair of trousers or three quater lenght trousers. I also carried a lightweight hoodie type jumper with me just incase it got a bit chilly. We had a couple of days that got into the 80's though!

Evenings can get quite cold, down to about 50 i think but we just tended to wear a pair of jeans and a jumper and were fine!

Early December is a great time to go, its soooo quiet and as Laura said all the Christmas Decs are up and its really festive. Ive usually worn shorts/t-shirt as it is still very warm, a couple of times its been a bit cooler so I have worn jeans. I would pack for warm weather but take light jumpers and jeans for tyhe eves or if you have a cold day.

I got married in Disney in 2004 and it was fantastic, Mark & I married at the Polynesian Resort at Sunset Pointe, have a fantastic time!

Generally early December crowds are low. You may get a slight increase during 'Pop Warner' week. This is a junior American Football and Cheerleading event at Disney World of Sport. I think it's usually the second week in December.
But if you don't mind groups of enthusiastic teenage cheerleaders in the parks then it won't be that much of a problem

We went last December from the 15th iuntil the 29th. Up until around the 23rd crowds were quite low. After that it got mad! Christmas week was packed. Although with careful planning and use of Fastpass it's still possbile to get everything done

Thank you for all the advice, I have managed to sort out the problem of my set up as well.

I have already booked Very Very Merry Christmas at Magic Kingdom, and I heard a rumour you can book sleigh rides, if anyone has good ideas of chrismassy things to do please let me know

If you gave me a free choice over the year those would be the weeks I would choose. When my boys were younger we always went then but as we went for 3 weeks when the got older it was not possible to have the time off school.

The biggest queues were 10 minutes on some rides we could go again without getting off, all the christmas stuff was going on and the place was just ours!!

The weather was very changeable during the day normally we got away with T-shirts and shorts, but the evenings it could be cold. I have got so many WDW jumpers and sweatshirts because I was too lazy to carry anything with me but got so cold had to buy something to keep me warm, but the next night you could get away with shorts and t-shirt again. But in general not too bad!

Overall for me personally the best time to go.

December last year was fairly quiet even into the week before Christmas. We were there from the 16th to the 23rd and it wasn't until the 21st that we started noticing the crowds increasing. We walked onto everything we wanted and used fastpasses etc. Also got to the parks early- before opening and used EMH in the evenings.

Definitely take warm clothes for the evenings though. Once the sun goes down it gets very chilly. Our first night there almost froze cos we were in skimpy t-shirts. Oops! Didn't make tat mistake again!
