We will be staying at VWL and checking in on a Sunday. What has been your experience with trying to check in early. If the room is not ready, will they store perishables for you? (talking quite a bit- lunchmeat, milk, eggs, pizza etc.) Or should I plan to shop after we get our room?

DVC rooms are seldom available before 4:00pm. THey will store your perishables. You will be able to get your resort ID's and use the pools etc., and they'll give you a number to call and check on the status of your room.

Thanks again Anne. I wasn't sure they would appreciate my five day grocery supply, but maybe we'll pack coolers or order groceries in.

There is always a chance your room will be ready when you get there...Out of our approximate 7 DVC trips we have had to wait until 2pm once and 3pm once...everyother time the room was ready at check in..usually early AM....But it also depends on the date and day of the week you are checking in.....Don't count on it and maybe you will be surprised...

Unless it's a major inconvenience, my advice is to shop after you get your room. Less to stuff to worry abou. While they will store things for you, there have been some reports of things not getting properly refrigerated. While most reports say Disney made up for their mistake, I'm sure it was a hassle and took up valuable vacation time to resolve. I'd shop later if I could. JMHO. YMMV.

Best wishes -

I was wondering if they will hold your luggage for you if the room is not ready so you can go to the parks? We will be getting in about 12:30 and wanted to head to the parks right away since we do not have much time there.

Thanks

They will definately hold luggage for you. I agree with going shopping after you get the room - less to worry about.

We had a small hand held cooler with some lunchmeats and the bellservice at BCV kept it refrigerated for us. There was no problem.

We went to VWL back in Sept and arrived around 11am, I didn't expect the room to be ready right then but it took all the way up until 4pm. Our group of 7 brought bathing suits in our carry-on and ended up changing and lounging at the pool for the afternoon.

FYI -- Sunday is the biggest check-in day for DVC members.
