Early Check-in questions?

Hi all,

We are going to be arriving at OKW in late August on a Saturday. We have DS who naps from 1-3ish and is a bear if we don't get that nap in. He is not a stroller napper either so we are really really hoping to get into our room fairly soon upon check-in. We will be there at approx 1pm.

I asked to have early check-in as a request on our ressie and was told that you can check-in at any time. It's just whether or not your room is ready that is the question. We had a few requests for view on our ressie that isn't all that important to us. I was told that we would be eligible for the first 1BR that opens up and if we want to diss our requests we can take it.

Does anybody have any idea if that info is correct? If so, what is the likelihood that a 1BR would be available sometime in the afternoon around 1 or 2pm? The last time we went, we didn't check in until 7pm and had no problems. The time before we had to wait well past 5pm for a room at BWV.

Any ideas?

There's no way to accurately predict whether a room will be ready at a certain time on any particular day. The correct answer is that checkin is not until after 4 PM, and if you get anything earlier than that, you got lucky.

That said, OKW is a large resort, and Saturday is probably a much lighter checkin/checkout day than Sunday, for example. So you would undoubtedly have a better chance at OKW on a Saturday than some other resorts.

If they have a room, they'll give it to you. But I wouldn't plan on that, nor would I be disappointed if it didn't happen.

Checking in on Sat might be an advantage & if you are willing to take what you can get you might get luckier.

We usually check in on Sat.'s as well but we don't travel in summer so...

Basically I think it's a toss up.

I would keep in mind that with all the excitement & the days travel your little one's schedule might be off anyway. I used to be able to set my clock by DS12 when he was a baby/toddler but once in WDW all bets were off. We all had to go with the flow.

My best advice is to be sensitive to your child's needs even if they seem to contradict everything you consider "normal" at home & go with it. Flexibility will be key - especially in August heat. You can re-establish routines after you get home.

Have fun!

Well, our last resort is to get in the car and drive. Hopefully he will get some semblance of a nap.

I understand that there are no guarantees...just hoping to hear some success stories out there. I do agree that hopefully coming on Sat. will help.

You might be able to find a nice little shady spot at a quiet pool to spread out at and let him rest.
