Early check-in and Front-of-Line access?

It has been about 4 years since we were last at Universal, but with the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter opening this summer, we are going for 3 days at the end of our WDW vacation this year.

We stayed at the Royal Pacific last time, and I seem to remember that even though check-in time is 4 pm, we were able to get our room keys early and go off to the park, even though our room was not ready yet. We just stored our luggage and off we went!

Since we will be coming from just 20 minutes away at WDW, we did not want to waste a day, if we couldn't check in until 4 pm.

Does anyone know if they are still letting you do this?

Yes, they are still doing early check in. They hold your bags if your room is not ready.

Last time they took my cell number and called when the room was ready....that was nice so we didn't come back to the resort if we didn't need to.

I wonder if the ride from wdw will still be only 20 minutes with wwohp opening...
