I might be able to squeeze in a trip the first week in August. Does anyone have opinions on this time of year? I am not worried about the heat. I am not crazy about crowds, but I can handle them. I just want to know what to expect.

Thanks!

You know it will be hot and humid and it will probably thunderstorm each day. Crowds are not too bad at that time, except for perhaps the weekends. Schools return the first week of August in the south and many other parts of the country. We have found moderate crowds in the parks.

Well if you can deal with the heat and the crowds, you'll do fine.

This will be our 3rd trip this summer so we know what to expect and we are realistic about what we can accomplish. We figure a list of must-dos and do them in the morning. We usually take it easy in the PM, either go back to the hotel, or hide in anything that is air-conditioned at the parks!

I would agree with above (except Disneyrsh, I don't know what that means). Hot, humid, moderate crowds. Rain everyday between 2-4pm. Makes for a good break though.
You can go back to the room, relax, rest and go back to the parks for the night! If you have little ones, I would make sure to bring some kind of cooling devices. We used misting fans and my ds (7months) was in his diaper 90% of the time while in the stroller.

What "oy, Brazilians" means is that in August most of Europe and South America goes on holiday, and a huge amount of Brazilians trek up to Disney World, and they don't ever cue. They will have one person hold the spot in line and then forty of them will show up and squeeze in around that person and boom, you've just had 20 minutes added to your wait in line.

After having been yelled at in Portugese by a woman wearing little more than a thong and a snarl at epcot, we now avoid early August. Anything after August 15 has been great for us, the crowds thin out and we don't find the weather bad at all! I just don't like dealing with foreign customs when I'm not out of the country...

I agree with you, we will go the end of August or Sept. Just for that same reason.
