If all goes well, we are hoping to arrive early on our first day at Disney. We will stop at the resort (SSR) to see if our room is ready -- likely not, but we plan on checking in at least and dropping out luggage off at bell services. How does this work exactly?

I have also read where people have done this, gone off to a park, but tyet call the resort to see if there room is ready. What number would that be...the resort's specific number?

Also when we get back to the resort and our room is ready, how long will it take for them to bring us our stuff? We plan on leaving stuff that can handle the heat in the car, but other things will be dropped off with B/S.

We plan on arriving at 10 or 11, hitting HS, and then coming back to SSR and having dinner at Fulton's. Our ADR is for 6:20, so I was thinking of leaving the park at 4-4:30ish to make it back, shower (if needed), and change clothes (if needed).

When you check-in, they will give you a business card which has the phone number and a code on it. When you call, it will tell you if your room is ready.
Most times our room has already been ready. When not, it has taken about an hour for them to bring our bags. The one time we were in a hurry, we just went back to main building, got our bags ourself and then grabbed a bus and took them to our room. We've also had them hold our groceries in the fridge so everything stayed cold until we got our room. They are very accomodating.

We checked in to SSR at 8am last December and our room was ready. So, hopefully yours will be too!:thumbsup2

It seems like they might be using times people give at online checkin to allocate rooms, to increase the chance the a room is available when you arrive. Look for threads on this topic -- one downside at SSR seems to be that they may not keep your requests for area. So if you are not picky about where in SSR you stay, you might try online checkin.

Can't do online check-in. My stay is booked on DP's. That may or may not be a saving grace.............

If you travel to HS by bus from SSR you may be cutting yourself too short to be able to get to Fulton's by 6:20PM. If you're driving, no problem!
