I’m going to be flying down next Wednesday on a very early flight and expect to land at MCO at around 8am. I’ve never arrived that early before and am not sure what to expect. Is there a longer wait for DME that time of morning because they have to wait for buses to fill?

I know it’s not very likely that my room will be ready, so I plan to get something to eat at Sassagoula and rest for a bit before heading to Disney Springs to upgrade to AP. But what would you recommend putting down for my arrival time for online check in?

You should experience no significant difference in wait times for DME at any time during the day. Buses only wait for about 30 minutes and then will leave whether they are full or not.

As for what time to use for online check-in, it's irrelevant. By using DME, any time you enter (assuming the system will even let you enter a time) will be overridden in preference to your flight arrival time. You don't really get to choose.

To be clear, the resort goes by the flight arrival time as per DME? I asked because MDX is asking me for my arrival time to the resort, but I also know online check in is often glitchy.

The time you put will mot matter.
They will know what time to expect you based on the flight info you proved to DME.
I've gotten in at all times of the day. Last week I arrived at 9am and waited about 2 minutes to leave once on the bus.
I've also waited about 20 minutes.
There really is no way of knowing how long you will sit before you get under way.
Your room may or may not be ready but they know when you are arriving so if there is a vacant room that fits your reservation they will give it to you.

Theoretically (but since we're talking MDX here, anything is possible), if you already have a DME reservation for your resort stay, MDX shouldn't ask you for an arrival time as that time is already known. Similarly, if you add DME after you've done online check-in, whatever time you entered will be replaced in MDX with "Disney's Magical Express Trasnportation". So it really doesn't matter what you tell them.

I always enter an expected arrival time. With a flight arriving at 8am, I would enter that I expected to arrive at 9:30 am.
