My friends and I have a 9:05 am reservation for the Tusker House character breakfast on a day the AK park opens at 9:00. I know if we had reservations for prior to park opening time we would get in early...will they still let us in the park early with a 9:05 reservation, or being that our reservation time is after park opening time will they make us wait until park opening?

Thanks!

Good question, I have the same res time in Feb, although I was hoping to see the awakening?

Actually, they do allow you in for a reservation for Tusker House. I have had an 8:05 ressie 2 times and we got in and in fact, we were out just as the park opened..not, bad to get an early Safari ride:)

Just went throught this a few weeks ago...They will definitely let you in...just make sure you have your reservation number handy, and all of your guests together at the gate. :thumbsup2

Last may we had 9:05 reservation time and they would not let us past the tree of life as we were told the reservation was after park opening.

Was there last month with a 9:05 ressie, and they would not let us in. I asked about being late seeing as it would take more than 5 min to get there after park opening, but the cm told me they expect that at the restaurant and are prepared for it. It worked out fine for us, the restaurant didn't say a word, we were about 7 min late.

Nope, they will not let you in if you arrive at approx. 8:45 and later. Have had this happen 2x - they close off the park due to the Tree of Life opening ceremony. The park managers are in charge, and due to safety issues, restaurant patrons are not let in under any circumstances.

If you go about 15 mins. before park opening, you will be held back. I have spoken to park supervisors/managers, as well as restaurant managers, and despite knowing it's a big problem, they refuse to do anything about it. I think they should close ADRs for that time period, as the restaurant gets seriously backed up, as no one is let in during this period.

After the 1st time, they said it was just a 'misunderstanding' but after 2nd time, we realized that there was no misunderstanding. I strongly encourage people to arrive about 25 - 30 mins. before park opening ADR, so that way, they will let you in. It's best to wait at Tusker House, then be trapped at rope drop (we hate rope drops, and have been stuck in them 2x).

We will no longer make ADRS at Tusker House until after park has opened, as it's a big problem with the current system. So, despite what others have said above, they will not let you in if you are about 10-15 mins before park opening. This is the critical time area. Both times, they found our name on the clipboard, but the restaurant CMs were not allowed to let us in under any circumstances, until after the rope drop ceremony was over.

Good luck, Tiger

Any recent experiences with this? I know we can get in early if our reservation is well before park opening and we arrive on time.... but what should we do if our reservation is at 9:05am when the park opens at 9:00am since we are supposed to arrive 15-20 minutes early for reservations?

  1. Arrive to AK at 8:30am and hope they let us in even though our reservation is not until 9:05... so we can get to Tusker House early...
  2. Just enjoy the tree of life rope drop ceremony and get to Tusker House late at 9:15-9:20am... (we are going to walk not run...) and assume the restaurant is still dealing with late arrivals for 9am reservations?

If your reservation is close to the tree of life ceremony time, you won't get in. If your reservation is at least 15 minutes prior to the ceremony and you show up 15 minutes prior to that, then you will get in. If you reservation is 5 minutes after park opens, then you have to wait it out at the tree.

If you want an early morning breakfast where they let you in prior to park opening at anytime, try crystal palace, cinderella's royal table or princess buffet in norway.

We had an early Crystal Palace ADR. They never asked us for a reservation number or time. Maybe you can tell them it's for 8:50 a.m. and take your chances??

Don't they take reservations for an hour earlier than the time of the park opening? Like if it opens at 9, you could get a reservation at 8? Or am I wrong?

I've heard that CMs at the gate can and will cross-check your name and time with a list they have, to prevent people from getting in early who actually don't have reservations at all.

Yes they do but you have to have an ADR at 8 to get in that early.
