So I googled and found another site that has posted that DL already announced discounts for Jan. - March of 2012.

20 - 35% room only discounts depending on the resort and the dates.

AP discounts are out too.

I just searched the dis and found a blog post awhile back that listed discounts through the end of February 2012 but not March.

Did I miss this announcement on the disboards? I look every day and now I'm afraid that if I didn't catch this one, I will miss any discounts when they are announced for our dates in May.

Where should I check every day to be sure I don't miss the new discounts as soon as they come out?

Pin codes came out a couple weeks ago. The trick to receiving a pin code is to register on the Disney site, check hotel offers and punch in dates that you would like to go and *SAVE THE OFFER*. That is very important. Disney now knows that you are interested in visiting in the future and will send you pin codes when they are offering discounted room rates.I have received pin codes 3 or 4 times this year. I am not going back till 2013....but I plan at least one imaginary trip a month :rolleyes1

Thanks for the info.

But I am referring to discounts for the general public and especially AP holders, since we will be buying AP's. I already have reservations for our dates with a slight AP discount (10%) but I am waiting (and hoping) for larger discounts for our time frame.

I just want to be sure I don't miss the announcement. It doesn't seem to get posted noticeably on this DL board like they do on the WDW board.

There really isn't a "big announcement" unless its a 5 for 3 ticket deal or everyone pays kids prices, etc. AP discounts aren't announced and can change day to day as I've posted previously for you. Plus they only post 3 calendar months at a time online. The earliest you will see AP discounts beyond the 10% off for May would be March. Even then it likely won't be a huge discount until closer to your dates. As far as public discounts, Disney doesn't post these too far in advance either. Your best bet is checking Disney's website, because that's where people will be getting their information if they come to the Disboards to "announce" it. Right now they have discounts through February or March, and I wouldn't expect anything beyond that until closer to the end of that promotion. In the past Disney announced the next promotion around the "book by" date of the current promotion.

ETA: You didn't miss any "big announcement" for the current promotion because many feel staying onsite isn't a necessity. There are many that do enjoy staying onsite, but usually the ones to "announce" any onsite promotions here are those that have accidentally found that staying onsite for a little bit more that their current offsite reservation.

I was just going to say the same thing as 3Minnies - we don't really have big announcements because as she said, as far as AP rates go, they tend to not offer the better (30% ish) rates until much closer to your specific dates. Just keep checking the main site. I think I remember from another post that you don't have your AP's yet, so you can't check the AP site, but the hotels will give you the rates if you call to ask.

Yes you will have to call to ask about AP rates. But it's not an across the board discount like WDW, the discount will depend on how many rooms they have available on a certain day. So you could have 30% one day, 20% the next and 15% on the third night.

Okay, I guess since it's done differently than WDW I can't expect that someone will post it on the disboards if DL does indeed offer further AP discounts. I was checking here every day thinking it would be on here when they came out.

When they have them at WDW it's very prominently posted (usually multiple times) on that board. There is always someone who has a connection with travel agents (or is one) and it often is listed even before disney announces it.

And sonnyjane is correct, we don't have our AP's yet so I can't check the AP site.

So, I guess that means I should be checking the DL regular site? No one calls disney on a daily basis to check do they - I'd probably get on some black list with them.

Or should I start calling disney direct (in March, according to 3Minnies1Mickey) on a daily basis? Obviously I really don't want to miss a deeper discount and if the rooms are limited, I want to act asap.

So your trip is in May? In that case, I would call in March (unless they announce something prior to that). I'd book a room-only reservation. Those are completely refundable provided you cancel within the designated period. In most cases if you book for a rate that is higher and they later release a lower rate, they can alter your reservation to reflect the new rate.

What I have found in my experience is that they release the "general" AP rate about three months out, but they won't announce the "real" AP discount rate until about 60 days before, sometimes less, so you'll want to call again in April. A good indicator is if they release general public discounts. Sometimes you can actually get a better rate WITHOUT using the AP discount, because, for example, sometimes the 30% off for regular guests is cheaper than whatever they are offering for AP's, but in the past when I have stayed on-site, they offered a special for all guests, and then my AP rate from the site was even a bit discounted from that.

It's not really something that changes daily, so please don't call them everyday. I'd call once every few weeks or so and see if they are offering any promotions or know of any coming up. You can also ask here on the boards for someone with an AP to look up your rates during your trip, but again we can't do that until closer to your stay. And please don't ask that we do that every day either ;) It doesn't really change that often hehe.

Hi,

Yes, we plan to be there at the beginning of May. I already have a room only reservation at DLH with the AP rate (just 10% off right now).

I will mark on my calendar to check again in March. Hopefully then I can post on here and someone with an AP can check, like you said. But no, I don't expect someone to do that daily. :)

Thanks for the help!

Plus they only post 3 calendar months at a time online. The earliest you will see AP discounts beyond the 10% off for May would be March.

I thought that was the case, and maybe you mean the official disneyland site only posts 3 calendar months ahead.

But with regard to discounts, you can call now and get 20 - 35% off discounts through the end of March - that's over four months ahead of now. And I don't know how long that offer has already been available.

That's what concerned me when I found this recent discount info. because if they are releasing discounts that far in the future, what's to say they won't do the same for our trip dates? I don't know if maybe something would come out in Jan/Feb for our May dates even though that may not be how it has traditionally happened.

Yes I mean online. Example in December they post for December, jan and feb. it is unusual that they already have march discounts but that may coincide with public discounts.
