We are celebrating my parents 30th wedding anniversary tomorrow and I'd like to make them a CD of popular songs from back then....specifically 1972-73. Neither one of them could think of ANY songs that stood out to them. I've searched online but only found a few.

Would you guys list some of your favorites or some of the more popular ones?

TIA,
Amy

I was only 6 years old at the time but I seem to remember John Denver & Carly Simon.

Wouldn't you know that American Pie was the ONE song my dad could think of! Thanks for that site! I've been searching all evening and not come across anything useful. I must not be using the right key words.

I also like the other Don Mclean song they have on there. I remember a few of those other songs being pretty popular. My mom used to love to play Donna Fargo all the time.

LOL! Did you see #23?:p "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". Everytime I hear that song now, I think of Timon and Pumba.:teeth:

I just noticed #28.....my cousin used to sing this sick little song about a ding-a-ling....please tell me it's not the same..........

kiddo...thanks for the lists.....now I just have to choose which songs!

My parents are SO not the romantic/lovey-dovey types. It's a wonder they had 6 kids.

hehehe....thanks....julie-yet always has great pics in her siggie as well. I've been wanting to change it to another of his pics but then my tag will seem kind of irrelevant, don't you think?

Thanks again for all of ya'lls help! Is that southern enough for ya?

thanks for making me feel old.

I know every song on that list.

I was in 7th grade 30 years ago.

the ones that stand out in my mind from 1972 are American Pie, Time in a Bottle, Nights in White Satin and heart of gold. for 1973, my top choices are Tie a Yellow Ribbon, Your Mama Don't Dance and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

I love the song "Alone Again Naturally" by Gilbert O'Sullivan. :D

Thanks for all of the suggestions....I'm choosing a few of the grooviest ones and burning the CD!
