My kids think we are going in August but we are actually leaving in 3 weeks! :cool1: Can anyone give me any clever ways to surprise them? They are ages 9 and 12 and will be celebrating my daughter's 10th birthday. My kids will not do well with finding out the same day we are leaving. Thanks in advance.

We are planning a surprise for my seven year old.... but we are surprising her the same day. We are going in September and plan to wake her early "for school" and have a big box in our living room. Then ask her to open it, balloons will fly out with a personalized letter inviting her to Disney World. There will also be a Disney Barbie, her autograph book & a shirt to wear that says "I'm going to Disney"

We plan to then leave for the airport :thumbsup2

You could do something similar, just not on the day of, you could do it a few days prior.

We are planning on surprising our 2 this December, and will be checking them out of school early for the flight. They will think they are going to the dentist for a check-up. I will hand them this paper to read in the car:

Travel to a place that a mouse calls home,
Where ghosts and pirates like to roam.
Take a train to a castle that's a special school,
Where witches, wizards and magic rule.
No visit to the dentist for you today,
Check-in, hop aboard and you'll be on your way!

I will print it on some cool paper and doctor it up somehow.

That's adorable!! If they're close to the Hogwarts first year age you could make it look kind of like an acceptance letter.

Sorry, off track, OP any way you surprise them will be great but there is always the classic scavenger hunt idea leading them to the big reveal. Look at YouTube, there are lots of videos on there of surprises!

:wave2:

Last year we had planned on driving down for a cruise and about a month before we left I made acceptance letters telling my sons that they have been accepted to attend Universal Studios before our cruise. We placed them on their bed for them to find and they were very excited to help plan and see what they could ride and do.

I love watching videos online about all the ways the kids are surprised. There was one were the parents made a video telling the little girl she was going back to WDW. They had used old photos and talked about their past trips and then at the end they told her they were going back. It was so cute because she ran to every person in the room hugging them and saying thank you.
