Earful Tower to be Removed from Studios

Just saw this and wanted to share. Stinks to me. Always like the Earful Tower.

Well, Pooh. I guess most visitors don't know it was the original park icon. I'll miss seeing it from the road.

Hmm... I've been there several times in the past few years and I don't even recall seeing it. Seems to me they could move it over by the Tower of Terror area and keep with the theme there...

You can see it in some areas.

Ok this is the only website I have seen reporting this. Wdwnt isn't known for being the best at these things but I am interested to see where this one goes.

I really hope this is just rumor. I remember being so excited to see the tower during the construction of MGM and made a point to photograph it every trip. I didn't have any strong feelings on the removal of the hat...but this...this bugs me. I mean, I get the whole it's not a museum idea, but icon is different than attraction.

The Sentinel is now reporting all of this is true so I am starting to believe it now. I am just really happy we have movement and things are starting to happen at DHS.

True. LMA was already confirmed though, so that one is not in rumor status for now.

I think it was assumed these thing HAD to close in order to fit in the new additions. I can't imagine it's a surprise to anyone.

But I am a little bummed that they do not just shut down the entire park and do the makeover without the intrusion of guests getting in the way. They could probably cut the construction time in half if they simply closed the park.

Back when the Backlot Tour was actually worth going on, the tower was a big deal. Hope whatever they're doing to this park makes it worth it! It will always be the park icon to me

The earful tower is sort of surprise. It's been assumed Toy Story would not go that far down backstage.

Shutting down the park would cost jobs and money. This is no different than the DCA redo.

I wonder if they will scrap it and commission it into some limited pins, or art, or christmas ornaments, or something. Unlikely, but I can dream.

Man, I had forgotten all about it getting a new name. That talk has totally died down and it left my memory

Sad about the Tower. I made sure to take pictures of it the last time I was on backlot. I only saw it during runDisney events so I saw it then. I think with all these massive closures they won't really need to shut down the entire park. They'll be able to start pretty quickly after park close and continue until park opening most days. Also since DHS isn't as "themed" as the other parks day time construction doesn't seem like it would be out of the question either. There won't be as much issues getting things in and out either. I remember the issue with Seven Dwarfs was the fact it was smack in the middle of NFL which had already opened to the public.
