Last time we went to Disney DS had a terrible time with his ears popping. He has very bad allergies. I know this is painful becuase it's happened to me a lot of times. I've read about ear plugs that claim to help. Has anyone used them? I'd like to have something just in case he has a problem again.

I'd like to know as well. My DD3 has bad allergies as well and this is what I'm concerned about when we fly next month.

There is a product called EarPlanes, and are available in adult and child size. Most readily available at Wal-Mart, CVS, Rite-Aide, etc. A little expensive (around $4.00/ea.), but well worth it. Just be sure to read the instructions carefully, and don't make the mistake of jamming them in too far in your ears. . . the instructions state this. It is really a nice product, and can be a great benefit if used correctly. We use them every time we fly.

As a side note, and you will want to check with your pediatrician on this, but an antihistimine such as Benedryl before the flight does wonders, especially if you have a cold. Really opens you up so the flight does not make it worse. We have done this in the past also with much success.

Hope this helps, and have fun!

My family and I swear by EarPlanes! They have made a tremendous difference in the quality of our trip...from the beginning to the very end. One pack of EarPlanes are good for only 1 roundtrip flight. They come in adult and child sizes too! Read the directions carefully...they work the best when the directions are followed closely.

Yeah, I know, that's what the instructions say. We have re-used them for several flights and they have been fine. Just keep them clean and replace them in the original tube for storage, and we keep them all in a Zip-Loc until next time. We write everyone's initial on their tube so they get the one they used before.

Another vote for EarPlanes, DD spent her first flight when she was two, screaming the whole way (I apologize to anyone who was a passenger with us). I heard about EarPlanes on these boards and they've been a life saver.

Another vote for earplanes! We also re-use ours. On my pediatrician's advice, I give my kids a dose of decongestant one hour before departure, and one dose four hours later. Been a life saver as we travel so much, but make sure you check with your own pediatrician first.

Have a great flight!!! (and trip to WDW!)
