Hello Everyone, My 5 Year Old Daughter Wants To Get Her Ears Pierced At Disney World. Is There A Place I Can Get This Done? Has Anyone Ever Done This At Disney. Any Feed Back Would Be Great

Hi- I pretty sure they don't do it for medical/legal reasons.
But, it's a good idea to get her ears pierced at least 2 months before you go to WDW so she can get new earring there.

I would recommend the better earrings in WDW (for sensitive ears) to avoid any reaction.

WE made sure my niece had hers pierced before we left (she's 4) so she could pick out some nice birthstone mickey earrings.

Daxx's Wife here. In all the years I've been to WDW, I've never seen an ear piercing stand at any of the kingdoms. I doubt they'd even do it at the spas. As another poster said, more than likely for legal/medical reasons.

I loved the idea of getting her ears pierced before you go and buying her first earrings at WDW.

:goodvibes I read here of getting DD ears pierced before going to WDW so she can pick out a pair of earrings there. My DD is 9 and we are going to get her ears pierced tomorrow so she can get Mickey earrings and even get to wear them. 45 days and counting. Now her excited has changed to include getting to pick out her first disney earrings. Thanks so much for the idea. She's excited! :goodvibes Would not have thought of it!

We had our DD's ears pierced by her doctor. Yes, sanitary. We left the trainers in for 3 months.

Do it the piercing at a doctors office.
Then when you go to WDW pick out a 14 KT pair of earrings.
Even if she has to wait more time before the trainers come out,
she'll have a happy goal at the end. :lovestruc

Our DD had her ears pierced at 6 months at the Dr's office. Two of the nurses did it at the same time.....one, two, three...DD didnt even cry. I think she was just surprised ...as soon as they did it I popped her pacifier in....no tears. I know lots of people think we are crazy but I had mine done at birth, Grandma had hers done at birth...etc....etc...
We bought DD some beautiful Mickey Mouse earring on main street. We saw many many 14 k gold pairs but the jewelery shop on main street was the only place that had screw backs on the earrings. We only buy screw backs as it is harder for DD to get them off. She has never tried and she is nearly 2 but better safe than sorry. I think we paid $35.00 for the pair and they are very nicely made. She loves wearing them.
Our Walmart carries Mickey, Tink, and a few other 14k earrings but they are not as nice as the pair we got in WDW. Good luck!

I took the DD to have her ears done today. :goodvibes I didn't read the posts after my post to go to Dr. Office though. (sigh) Found out today her doctor moved too. :( But back to the ears. She was so brave. She didn't even cry. She did yell "that hurt". They are so cute on her. Took her first thing this morning. She says their her first diamonds. Even though they aren't real she just loves them. But man $35 bucks. Wasn't expecting that much. But hey done and over with. She told the lady "I get to go to WDW and get Mickey earrings". Very excited. The other DD freaked out and just held her mouth open is awe! She is 7 and didn't want her's done. So thanks for all the posts. :sunny:

My sis got her ears pierced at one of those "piercing pagoda"s in the mall. A number of days later she came down with a 105 temperature. She ended up in the hospital, near death with Kawasaki syndrome (and infection in her heart). THe doctors are certain that it originated as a staph infection from the ear piercing. It's not uncommon.

I decided I would wait until my dd asks for them. I thought about getting them when shew as really little but didn't.

I will let her pick out a pretty bracelet though. :)

I am so happy your daughter is happy!! I urge anyone doing a little ones ears to go to the Dr's office......there are all sorts or infections out there....DH and I picked up MRSA.....antibiotic resistant staff somewhere....we think when we had the baby.....in the hospital. Because of all the antibiotic use and the antibacterial washes and soaps out there the "Germs" are becoming resistant. I urge all of you to go to the Dr's so you are sure it is sterile.....as sterile as possible as I already said we think ours came from the hospital.........

Actually, the instruments used in the doctors office are usually the EXACT SAME ones that are used in the mall kiosks. Ask your dr, chances are good they are an Inverness system (or one of the other big brands) and they are cleaned the exact same way. I used to pierce ears for a living and once had a conversation with my daughter's pediatrician about it and she even said I am probably much better at it than she is since I do it about 50 times a week whereas she does it once or twice a week. My company also required training sessions every 3 months. How often do you think your pediatrician has a "refresher course"?? Also, often the nurse marks the ears and does not worry as much about them being even as we would in the store.
Yes, infections are out there, but the dr's office isn't loaded with germs and infection??????

I am not trying to debate this, everyone needs to do what they feel is best for their child, just wanted to point out the flip side of having a dr. do it.

Thank you for the info. I guess I never heard the other side and you have some great points.(thank God both daughters are even) I never knew they used the same equipment. I know in the Dr's office the only part that touched DD was the earring post....it was what made the hole.....OUCH!!!!!!!! Thanks NJDisneyMom, I learn so much here.
Hmmmm othe DD (teenager)has talked about getting her bellybutton pierced......mall or Dr's office..........NOT!!!!!!! hee hee she is only 13 and we have decided that discussion will wait until she is 18! I had her ears peirced at 6 months and now ALL additional piercing have to wait until 18 or maybe 21 or maybe 36 or........I am too old for this......... :sad2:
Thanks again for the info NJDisneyMom.
