I had it done a few years ago on the top of my ear. It hurt only a little when it was done and I really am bad with pain. However it does hurt for a while if you catch it on a shirt or when brushing your hair although I don't have any problems now. Also it is sensitive until it heals when you sleep on it but when I got my ears pierced in the 3rd and 4th holes they hurt when I slept on them too. (I was too young to remember the first two). I'm assuming your daughter has her ear pieced regular. Gauge how she was when that was done, did she remember to clean them everyday, how much pain did she have, is she doing it just b/c all her friends are getting it done. I love mine however I got mine done in college but I think my mom would have let me do it anyway. She let my brother get an earring in 2nd grade (not sure what that was all about). If she's really insistent maybe you could talk her into just another set of regular holes until she gets older. I don't have kids so I really could be way off but I figured I'd throw in my 2 cents.
