Does anyone have their ear cartilage pierced?

I'm thinking of getting it done and I wanna know if it hurts/how long the earrings have to stay in for/what types of earrings you can have in?

Thanks (:

I want to get it done, too.
From what I heard from my friends, it hurts.
I know for the first eight weeks you can't wear a ring, you have to wear a stud, and you're not suppossed to take it out.
But after eight weeks I'm pretty sure you can wear a ring.

yeah i heard it's 8-12 weeks..
and my school doesn't allow piercings other than lobes
but it should be pretty easy to cover with my hair..

i want to get mine done too but idk if its .."me" ya know lol

yeah same lol
i'm worried i'll look stupid :/

I've never gotten a cartilage piercing, but my cousin told me that she couldn't sleep on it for about a month because of the pain she had. It's something to consider.

I have one done on my left ear. It is easy to hide with your hair, even if your wearing your hair up its not very noticeable if you wear a small stud. Its true that you can't wear a ring for at least 8 weeks after you've had it done. Some people might take longer to heal.

Does it hurt?? Yes!!! Its not like when you get your lobes pierced, with that its just a sharp sting for a couple of minutes. When you get your cartilage pierced ( depending on how high you go) the pain lasts for longer. When it actually goes through your ear, its not anything you would cry over ( I didnt at least ) but it does hurt. It feels like its pinching your ear for some time after. Also you'll probably find that it gets really hot, and itchy. (it will stay red for a while too) After the first hour, its just sensitive to the touch. If I can give any of you some advice it would be to get it on the ear that you dont sleep on. ( or sleep the least on) It will hurt to sleep on it for the first few days. In the end the pain isnt anything unbearable, mostly just annoying, and its worth it in the end :goodvibes

Thanks everyone (:

I was actually thinking of getting both ears done but would I be able to sleep on my side or on my back?

And I read that if you get it done with a gun (like they do at Claire's) it could shatter your cartilage? :S

What did you get yours done with?

Thanks (:

I would suggest that you only get one at a time. It will definetely hurt too much for you to fall asleep on the ear with the cartilege pierced for a least a couple of nights, and even if you fall asleep on your back, you'll probably roll over during the night, onto the ear you got pierced. If the pain doesnt wake you up, then it'll hurt alot more in the morning. Also you should see if you like it on one side, before you get the second done.

I had mine done with a gun and it didnt shatter the cartalage. I'd say that that is a pretty rare thing.

I wouldnt get it done at claire's. The employees there are not professionals and only have the basic training for piercing ears. Getting cartilege pierced is a bit trickier than piercing lobes and I wouldnt trust the people there to get it right. I'd suggest going to someplace that specializes in esthetics. Try a hair salon or a place that does manicures. Many of thsoe places also offer piercings, and actually have more training and more sanitary conditions than claires.

I did mine myself. It didn't hurt. I wore studs for a month. Then I wore a ring. Now I wear a stud.

I got mine done a year ago. It didnt really hurt. I took mine out after only 4 weeks and then they grew over so i want to get them done again.:)

Claire's no longer offers cartilage piercing. Just so you know.
