If I remember correctly, the plan for eagle pines was posponed not camnceled. Does anyone know anything more?

Yeah, and the Wonders of Life Pavilion at Epcot is supposed to be open "seasonally." ;)

Eagle Pines was originally announced as the resort to preceed SSR, but the powers-that-be decided that addressing the poor condition of the Disney Institute site was of greater imporance. They've done zero work on the Eagle Pines resort for about 3 years now, and with the announcement of Phase 3 of SSR, there is little reason to believe that EP is anything near a shoo-in for the next property.

Right now, it probably has equal chance of happening as DVC at the Contemporary, Mars, Castaway Cay or any other rumor you may hear.

There's been lots of discussion about this, and most seem to agree that although Eagle Pines is not dead, it is a long way away. SSR has 2 more phases that should take until at least 2007 to sell out. At that point Eagle Pines may happen, but most people seem to think they will add on to an existing resort, with the Contemporary leading the rumor mill pack.

I think the Contemporary and Eagle pinse are more likely than Mars or Castaway Cay. Of course I have no facts to support that opinion.:smooth:

::whispers:: Hey, Captain, over here. Now don't tell anyone else, but when I was at WDW in May, I had an interesting discussion with a Mission:Space CM. She told me that the real reason that they built M:S is to get WDW visitors used to the idea of space travel. Once they open the Villas at Mars Outpost, the DVC Sales area will move from SSR to M:S.

PS They will also be building a monorail from WDW to Kennedy Space Center....

:space:

Where was the CM from I wonder......

My bet is on the Contemporary area as the next DVC location with walking distance to MK.

I wonder if WDW management is worried about over-capacity. EP would have added 1000+ rooms. SSR basically replaces Disney Institute capacity, and a rumored "CR-villas" would also replace existing room capacity.

These are conversion projects. EP would be new development. Big difference.

Hadn't thought about the size of EP - good point timC. Even with the new Phase III, SSR will have 8XX rooms; another 1000 from EP does seem like a bit much. 200 - 300 at CR seems to be a much more realistic number....

Does anybody know what they'll turn the SSR preview center into when they move it to M:S. I think it's the perfect place for a sit down restaurant.;)
