What's the latest news about these two properties? Is Eagle Pines still a go? What about theming at the institute?

I am on these boards almost every night, your question is, as of right now the $1MM question. The current assumption is that DI will be completed before EP. DI has a lot of existing infrastructure and support facilities already in place, hence many believe it can be built faster and cheaper.

Most believe that the current sales pase of BCV will have it sold out in about 1 year. At that rate, there will be no on site property in inventory to sell, so time is becoming critical, hence DI first, EP second. EP has not been cancelled, it is still posted as a property in development stage on the Members Only site.

We are all anxiously awaiting DI theming, I believe it was Werner Weiss that had a strong argument that DI would be something along a Main St USA, Mayberry theme. But that is speculation at this point.

Stay tuned here, and as soon as it is anounced, it wil be discussed.

We were there this past week June 2-8 and they have nearly completed the new walkway from DI to DD. I was told that demolition of the old buildings was to start soemtime in the next couple of months. If they move as fast with this as they did with BCV then it should take them no time at all to complete. After all the hard part, Zoning and utilities, is already there and done.

:smooth:

We are looking to add on when DIV becomes available.

Yes, I speculated about a "rural small town" theme.

But I don't think it will involve the busy Victorian decoration of Main Street, USA. Rather, it would involve the simple, classic shapes and the architectural vocabulary of barns, farm houses, rural schools, small factories, and rural downtown building -- all painted in various traditional colors.

That's because half the resort has already been completed in that style!

For more details, see my article, "And the Theme of the New DVC Resort at Downtown Disney Is..."

I was suprised that DVC did not place some info on DI in the just delivered issue of Vacation Magic. I believe they missed a great advertising ploy by not providing some info.
