Eagle Pines: Are they building it?

We are at SSR and today we went over to MK. On the way I noticed that there is green lined fencing all around Eagle Pines area. At first I thought it might only be a small section, but it looked like it was all over. I'm wondering since they are done with SSR (other than the THV) and both BLT and AKV-Kidani will be opening up next year that EP would be the next DVC in the world (which if they start now I imagine it would start opening in phases in about 2 years).

Villas at Eagle Pines is one of those could have beens but never will be. Announced in 2001 before 9/11, it was shelved thereafter and instead they went with SSR. The final nail in the coffin was the announcement over a year ago that Disney and Four Seasons had entered into an agrement under which Four Seasons would develop the property. It is suppose to have hotel, condo, and even single family type units with units other than hotel being Four Seasons form of a time-share, where they sell extended periods, e.g., a month to a 1/4 year for prices affordable only by people like Warren Buffet or Bill Gates. Additonal side effects include that the Eagle Pines golf course is now gone and the Osprey Ridge is to be redone (shut done for doing so is supposed to be early 2010) and be the course for the resort and possibly out of Disney's control although that is unclear.

I spoke with the starter on my october trip and he was happy to inform me that Osprey Ridge would remain in Disney control, even after the 4 seasons project. The 4S aspired to redo the course as a true Pro Course but was discouraged by the layout as they want pro courses to be more compact for television coverage, not with holes two miles apart. One less thing for us DVC golf members to worry about.

Hope the starter was correct. Osprey is Disney's best course and one of the best resort courses there are in the nation. I am still flabberghasted that they did away with Eagle Pines (also an excellent course) and that they are going to "redo" Osprey -- apparently it will absorbing some of the EP holes and giving up some of its own but why redo a course that was essentially perfect to begin with. I guess it is what happens when the "suits" controlling the money make decisions without asking anyone who knows anything about golf.

My understanding was that the two golf courses were being redeveloped for the Four Seasons, with a single modified course coming from the two.
