Eager Housekeeping at Checkout

I hope this isn't too far off of the subject! My sis, the DVC member that my family will be staying with, will need to check out early in the AM. My family, on the other hand will be transferring over to POR that day. Will we be allowed to stay in the room at BWV until they have a room ready for us at POR, even though my sis has officially checked out? We don't want to wind up in a tangle with HK or anything, but it would be so helpful to just stay put until we can transfer directly over to POR since we will have a ton of gear to move, including fridge food. TIA

You will need to be out by 11:00 am or pay for an extra day. Why not let bell services transfer your stuff? If you have food, you could go get a cheap syro cooler to store it in. Will you have a car? If so, just store everything in the trunk and move to POR to check in.

Disney should make a check-out policy whereby you call into a number to let them know you are checking out. At checkin the front desk should explain to the members that if upon checkout we would call a "checkout" # and tell them you are leaving so housekeeping can get the room ready for the next guest. this would be more efficient in getting the rooms cleaner faster for us to check-in. Then I bet you would see more rooms ready earlier than the 4:00 p.m. check-in rule and everybody will be happy.

I always try to call the front desk and tell them I am leaving and my room is ready for cleaning for the next guest whether it's DVC or a regular hotel room.

We experienced this back in May at BCV. It kind of annoyed me. Check out time is 11 a.m. I didn't check at until 10:30 a.m. that day. I went to grab a bite to eat and came back to my room at about 9:45 a.m. The housekeeper was no where to be seen, but my dishwasher was running and all towels were gone.

I checked out of VWL on Sunday (yesterday) and left too early, so I didn't experience it there. I left at 8 a.m.

I have to admit that I LIKE not having housekeeping during my stay. I even canceled our full day cleaning service during my tirp last week, so I wouldn't have to bother with it. I always thought I would miss it, but I don't at all !

I stayed at HHI in 1999 and early 2000 and they left a note by the phone with all the other "brochures" asking for you to call HK when you were ready to leave so they could clean your unit as soon as possible. I don't have a problem with this and would prefer this to the mystery calls/knocks on the door early in the morning.

I didn't have any mystery calls this past trip though. It's the first time I have had a "quiet" departure morning. . . :D

If you are staying in a DVC villa they will keep items in the refridgerator just ask at the bell desk. Then when they transfer your luggage to PO they will transfer the food at that time.
