We just checked in and we were told the lounge was moved to the Safari Room (a conference room) on the 1st floor of the Adventure Tower. The refurbishment should last for 7 days. We haven’t had a chance to stop by yet.

Just a heads up for anyone considering concierge this week. There are NO hot items. They don’t offer the 2 hot appetizers at night, nor the mickey waffles in the morning. The selections are limited with no espresso or iced vanilla lattes. The whole thing looks thrown together with very little thought. It seems like if they are going to move the lounge to an inferior location, they would at least try to compensate by not cutting back on the food and drink selection. I feel sorry for the cast members who are dealing with disappointed guests. But hey, it is Disneyland, so there is still a lot to be happy about!

When we booked concierge at DLH once, they called me shortly before the trip to say the lounge would be closed for refurbishment during our stay but offered something similar to what you're getting. I had read on this board that others refused and requested to be moved to GCH, so that's what I did and they agreed (cost remained the same). Maybe you could ask to be able to use the GCH lounge as well since you've already checked in to DLH; I would definitely expect something more for what you're paying. Maybe a character meal if they can't give you other lounge access.

I agree that they should be compensating you in some way for the considerable downgrade to the experience. It sounds like something very unexpected happened regarding the regular lounge, but I'm surprised they aren't offering something better! I'm sorry for the disappointment!

Thanks for all the information and kind thoughts! I would never have thought to request moving to the GCH. I have to give kudos to the cast members in the lounge, especially food service, they have been wonderful. Based on our group and others around us, they seem willing to offer compensation for the lack of offerings, but only if you ask. I was also told that Paradise Pier is opening their pool area for firework viewing.

GCH offered some show viewings during their lounge remodel. Near VIP locations, but not seated

Definitely push for compensation or to be moved to GCH CL. What you have been given is completely unacceptable and is not what you paid for. Disney will slip by with the least amount of compensation ($0 to some of those people it sounds like!) possible putting the burden on you to get what you are owed. I’m sorry you aren’t getting the experience you signed up for & am glad you are making the best of it but please get what you are entitled to. When Starbucks > CL offerings the price difference between a standard room & CL room should be $0. I would ask to be moved to GCH CL & if that’s not an option I would request a refund in the amount of the difference between the CL room you booked and the non-CL equivalent.

Well, we are here and we actually are enjoying the lounge. Yes, the appetizers are not hot and they don't have access for heated food. But other offerings have been very good. I actually liked breakfast a bit more. And staff as always is great.

For someone who doesn't get to do concierge often, think what a disappointment it must be to get such a downgrade with nothing to make up for it. You are pretty much a regular and know the staff, so it probably isn't as big a deal as it would be to someone who has splurged on a special trip. I would be very unhappy to be switched with no prior notice and nothing to offset my costs.

OP, we have had issues arise from time to time at the DL hotels. They usually don't offer anything at first because you're usually dealing with a front desk CM with no power. If we find a situation that is a major issue, we tell the CM nicely that we would like to speak to a manager. They have always been exceptionally nice and generous. We don't ask for anything, we just point out the issue(s) and they have always worked to make amends, whether it's moving us to another room, giving us FPs and character meals, or something along those lines depending on the situation. It has only happend about 3 times in all the years we've gone, but it does pay to speak up. Note: I'm not advocating for an angry confrontation, but a nicely stated but firm expression of what happened has always done the trick. My experience with Disney hotel managers is that they are quite accommodating and care about your experience. I hope this works for you, too!

We are arriving tomorrow. I appreciate the heads up. Was so looking forward to the DLH Congierge lounge. I think I will request GCH. see what happens.

I can understand, I tend to be a "glass half full" type person. With the hotels sold out this week, you might ask about VIP options or a discount, as that may be more of an option. I don't think the Grand will be an option. As it is, the Grand concierge lounge is always so crowded.

Glad I missed the refurb. Wonder what it entails as the lounge looked perfectly fine when I was there last week. The logistics of these temporary moves have to be a nightmare for the CMs.

The understanding I have is they are redoing the kitchen.

We have arrived and decided to stay put and just enjoy ourselves. The “lounge” may not be very pretty but the afternoon afternoon offerings —fruits, veg, chips ,
Were what I expected.

Oh no!
Does it look like the refurbishment is still on track to be complete by this Sunday? We are expected to arrive late next week and I was so bummed to hear about this refurbishment. I may need to cancel my club level reservation now. :(

Just asked about timing
Fingers crossed they hope to be back to normal Sunday

For fireworks viewing, they have a roped off area at Paradise Pier hotel where they are providing snacks also. You just need to have your name on the concierge list. They did have hot appetizers tonight!
