I feel like the E.T. dark ride doesn't get the recognition that I feel it deserves. It's an interesting take on Dark Rides, one of the few rides at Universal truly for kids, and...well, even the smell of the queue is awesome (not sure if you know what I'm talking about....but trust me, the queue smells awesome). This ride has truly stood the test of time and its a must ride whenever I'm at the park.

So, what do you all think? Am I in the minority here?

ITA! That smell gets me off everytime LOL! Maybe I am in the minority with you!

E.T has stood the test of time at Universal.Where other rides have came and gone,E.T. still remains. If they were ever try to close it I'm sure you will see a mad mob of people including me..

I agree, I love the ride, it's very unique and high quality...the only thing I wish they'd update are the people in the ride itself, the police mannequins mainly could use some update.

We went for US/IOA for the first time 2 weeks ago. My youngest (age 5) loved loved loved ET. We rode it 4 times in a row. It's perfect for all ages.

::yes::

I love this ride and so do my kids (who are 16 and 18 years old). I love the queue just as much as the ride. Awesome smell!

I've loved E.T since I was a kid, and remember visiting US when I was young and absolutely loving it.. and I still do! I was worried when Universal Hollywood got rid of it, but glad the Orlando version stayed!

I love the ET ride. It's a sentimental favorite. DH on the other hand..:rolleyes2

I love the sentiment of riding ET! It's one of my favourites!
I know what you mean about the smell, I love it!

ET is great. I still love it to this day, and I love it even more because of memories from my childhood when I see it. The smell is great (I miss the smell from Kongfrontation) and the queue theme is awesome. I hope they NEVER get rid of this.

WOW, I am sooooo excited to hear someone else appreciate the ET ride :) I think it's GREAT!!! And I was soooooo thrilled to hear someone else mention the smell of the in the queue :) WOW...I never knew there was someone else out there who feels the same way...Where I work the building are all cement...very industrial, but pretty at the same time..anyway, the stairwells, when it's rainy out, smell the same just like the queue at ET!!!
I am so glad someone else mentioned this...I was laughing to myslef reading your post :)
I have 57 more days to go...we are planning on USF & IOA parks and plan on doing them in 1 day ;) Sooo excited! I just love Universal..been going there since I was 12..eekk...
Hope everyone has a GREAT day!!!

thank you so much for this thread - I had actually assumed it was gone. We last were at US in 1996. Guess it will be a new park and there wasn't even a hint that IOA was in the works!

I thought the E.T. ride was long gone too after looked at US Hollywood and deciding NOT to go to the park when I found out the E.T. ride was GONE! I was so angry. So sad. That ride and Jurrasic park and Back to the Future were the rides I remembered loving when I went to US. (Now Back to the Future is gone too :()

When I found out E.T. was still at US Florida, I just knew I had to GO! I'm more excited about riding it than I am about seeing the new Harry Potter stuff. :cool1:

I think it's time has passed. Time to gut the building and put something else in there, just like they did in Hollywood.
