Thanks to Lance Hart at Screamscape.com (the most delightful news and rumors site) I saw the following information. First, he hears that E-Ride nights may be back for the summer, but the more interesting news, is about "Park After Dark" events.
According to Lance, WDW is considering a new program that would possibly replace (or co-exist) with EMH, but at night. Working in the opposite manner, one park in the evenings would stay open up to three hours later for resort guests. It sounds like Disney is hearing that guests want extra hours and reduced crowds. Personally I love this idea, but I imagine that some families may not, as most children couldn't make it without falling asleep.
I would like to see this be a ticketed event, much like E-Ride nights to limit crowds, but any extension of park hours sounds wonderful to me. Perhaps this solves the mystery of the disappearance of E-Ride nights. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
