E nights offensive?

I rarely ever complain about anything that Disney does. I don't even get into the whole Eisner debate.

BUT, I have to say that I find the whole concept of e nights totally offensive! Do we NOT already pay enough money to get into the Disney parks? Why do we have to pay an additional $12 to stay for an extra 3 hours that they could easily give to everyone for "FREE"? (Ok, it's not really free because you're already paying to get in, but you get my meaning).

I can understand if they wanted to allow this special privilege to their resort guests, but why do they have to CHARGE another hunk of money for it?

Where's the love???

I am sure when we go to WDW we won't be paying extra for this little privilege. It's just the principle of the thing!:snooty:

Ok, I'm done now. Go ahead and flame me if you must. I've got on my fireproof suit.:scared:

I see your point however, if the extra 3 hours didn't have a ticket price attached, might there be too many people attending to allow for the shorter lines we always enjoy on E-Ride nights? The shorter lines are what my family pays for...not the extra hours.

Have to agree. Yes, I would love for them to let me in free for E-night as in EMH in the morning. But, then the reason I go would be gone. The short waits. No flaming here.

HENDUCK, I TOTALLY agree with you. I think this should be something Disney extends to their resort guests (only). Seeing that we are paying a lot more to stay on their property. That is why I am only going to Disney for 3 nights and Universal a lot longer than that. I will actually be able to enjoy my trip by not waiting in long, hot, sweaty lines. So, don't get out your firesuit on my behalf, because I totally agree.

As MrsToad says, if every resort guest was permitted in for free, the whole point of E-Ride Nights would be lost. The beauty of the program is that it's optional. We don't mind paying $12 for extra time at the MK and plan on doing 4 in July. It's clearly an option, just as concierge service, staying at a deluxe or moderate resort opposed to a value resort or vice versa, purchasing a pass that includes water parks and so on are all choices presented to guests by WDW.

i just wish that people staying in disney hotels, were guranteed a SEAT on the Busses;;;;;;;;;;;;i dont think that is fair.

We did it in the past once and that was enough for us. It did sort of bother me to pay extra so I see your point there but also we stood in plenty of lines that night. It seems insane to me to want three additional hours in June-Aug when the park is already open til 11pm. Holy Cow batman - 11pm - 2am?? NO WAY! Now, if the parks were only open til 9, like in Sept or another off-season month, then I might think it's worth it.

I've got a friend that just returned the weekend before Memorial Day. They stayed at Pop Century and she said they waited over 40 minutes before they finally got on a bus. She said it took 1-1/2 hours to get out of the MK after they closed and back to Pop Century. So, I am really dreading that during the week of the 4th of July.

Sorry to go OT, but if your budget affords, use taxis. We always go over the 4th (except this year) and the busses are crowded sometimes. If you hate to wait or to stand, there are taxis at the exits of all of the parks and you can ask the valets at your resort to call you one if there isn't a cab waiting. Only use Yellow Cabs, though, as their prices are regulated.

I'm curious. Just how long do the waits get on e-ride night? I'm talking about during the busy summer months.

What is usually the cost for a taxi? After my friend told me that, I just considered driving my own car to the parks, but not sure if that would be any quicker.

We've never gone to an e-night since this will be our first on-site Disney stay. I read somewhere that only 1500 tickets are sold for those nights. Can you buy the e-tix that day or do they have to be reserved in advance? Do they sell out? Since this will be our last trip to Disney for a long time (DH and DD want to start venturing out to more places, can you believe it?), I want to experience an e-ride night.

I'm not exactly sure, as my fiance always pays the fare, but I want to say, from the BWI to the GF, for example, $16 including tip. When he gets home from a meeting, I'll ask him the other prices, which will be based on originating from the GF. I think it's a flat $2, plus maybe $.15 or $.25 per 1/8 of a mile, if that helps any.

The lines don't get that long at all, even in July. As the night goes on, the lines decrease dramatically. Mostly everything is a walk-on or five minute wait.

I think it's more like 5000 tickets. The tickets go on sale at your resort 3-4 days prior to the E-Ride Night. We've been doing these since their inception in crowded months like June and July and I've never heard of one being sold out (but that doesn't mean they haven't).

HenDuck, I've got to disagree with you on this one. I am usually the first to complain about costs associated with DW, but this is the best $12 I have ever spent! First of all, the maximum tickets that they sell is 5,000. We have rarely waited in line more then a few minutes and on one particular night, we were allowed to ride splash mountain indefinitely without even getting off. How cool is that? The park feels like it is empty and you own it.
When we found out that there are three e ride nights scheduled during our trip next month, my family went nuts. We are planning on doing them all! MK at 2:00 in the morning, can't wait! ::MickeyMo

They can charge it because people gladly pay it. I've found e-nights to be well worth the money.

Last summer we took a taxi from the Boardwalk to MK for an e-night. With tip it cost us $15 but we got there in less than 10 minutes.

We go to at least one e-night everytime we are there. Being able to ride Space Mountain and Splash Mountain 3 or more times each in a two hour timeframe is worth it.

BTW, the CM that was working Splash Mountain last year said that as long as no one is in line you can keep riding.

I felt the same way as you do but I have never attended an e ticket night. On the other hand I have attended MVMCP which is along the same lines except that the park stays open 5 hrs and it is festive with Christmas and all. MNSSHP is basically the same.

After attending MVMCP it was nice to not have to wait in huge lines. We rode Splash MT 3 times in a row without having to get off the ride. That was very cool!

I have viewed it from both sides and I must say its nice every once in a while to treat yourself to the MK like youre the only one there.

No flaming from me, I have been there.

I can really see both sides of this issue - and my personal favor is leaning more towards henduck's side.

But the limits would be an easy fix if they were to make E-Nights free for resort guests. Still issue the bracelets to resort guests, just don't charge for them, and stop giving them out at 5,000. :)
