Did you ever wonder if some people even read e-mail forward messages before they pass them along? Don't get me wrong. I forward stuff and I enjoy receiving forwarded messages. However, some people just send everything along whether or not they think you would be interested in it or find it funny or whatever. How do you deal with these people? One in particular is really getting to me. I don't want to be rude so I just keep deleting them, thinking "Why the heck would she send this to me?" Eventually though I'm afraid I'm going to crack and start sending her all my junk mail. What do you do when someone is forward happy?

I erase them as a rule. I do not like to play into spammer's hands and I have no intent to spread deceit or even viruses.

The only time I ever replied was in a gentle way to say, "please stop forwarding these things".

Block them. ;)

Okay, I'd probably email them and ask them nicely to stop.

I wonder. I really never read them, but DH always does. He likes all the stupid jokes - I just don't find them worth my time. ;)

I check everything I get, if they're from known senders. I only forward what I think is appropriate and only to those I think might enjoy them.

I have a former BIL who sends me about ten every day and some are actually cute, but most are only worthy of the delete function. Of course, this guys thinks a fart in a crowded room is funny...

Oh, boy. . . email forwards. Some are OK, but most are stupid. The ones that really get my blood pressure up are the "Forward this to 10 people and Bill Gates will give you a computer." You can substitue Bill Gates for any other company or company head and substitute computer with any product you can imagine.

It doesn't bother me if I get these from a teenager or younger kid, but to get it from an adult who should be just a little more sophisticated and savvy. . . :rolleyes1

Well, it depends. If they are sending something that's an obvious hoax, I send a link to snopes, or missing children or the maker's of whatever product with a note asking them to please do a couple minutes worth of research before hitting the forward button. Sometimes, I just delete it, if it's from my mom or sister, who only got a computer this year. Stuff for my DH, well, I've reminded his friends we have a 12 year old boy in the house and to please put in a white space buffer so some of the photos they send aren't readily visible across the room. (Yikes)

I tell them to stop and I'm adamant about it. No one sends me forwards, because I don't want my address forwarded everywhere and added to spam lists, especially adult spam. For those who can't listen, I change my address and they don't get the new one.

People who forward stuff to me are wasting their time, as I never even open them, much less read them. Straight to the trash.

I have one friend in particular that sends me every single forwarded email known to man (and woman). It's gotten to the point that I don't even open them up anymore. Most of them I've read before anyway.

I tried telling her not to bother and that I just delete them, but she sends them anyway. :confused3

Same here!

My friend tends to favour chain eMails that end with something to the tune of "forward this to at least 15 people in 10 minutes or you will die."

:furious:

I don't send them and I don't read them. But one time, my friend's sister sent everybody some forwarded thing, and somebody on her list wrote a nasty reply, like "PLEASE take me off your list" or something--and that person hit "reply all" so everybody got to read it. :( Needless to say, my friend's sister doesn't send any forwards anymore. Yeah, forwards are bad, but that other person was really rude to do that.

I hate forwards. I have an Aunt that sends them out like 2 or 3 times a week, about as often as she checks her email. More than half of them were also forwarded to me by another relative. So now I'm getting them twice. :furious: You might think that she would see the names on the one she got and NOT send it to the same people.

I would say that 99.9% of forwards I get I delete them automatically. Chances are that over the last 10 years, I've seen it at least a few times or one that is similar to it.
