ok, please NO FLAMING!!!!!!!!

I was just wondering if anyone else was angry about the e-mail code situation??? I don't understand why they pick and choose who can get the code and who can't??? Why don't they just set a certain amount of rooms available at that rate, then e-mail EVERYONE in which they have e-mails to, then it can be on a first come, first serve basis......

I understand the situation with the AP's because each person can choose whether they want to take advantage of AP to get the room discounts, but the fact that I have a room booked @ POP for 123.76, and someone else who is going the exact same dates as me and is getting the same room as me gets to pay under half of what I am paying????

Like I said, please no flaming, I am not "hating" anyone for getting the discount, and believe me I LOVE discounts, and am really glad when someone get's a discount, but I don't know, I just don't think it is "fair"???

anyone else feel this way?????

Yes, I've been going to WDW FOREVER, have been signed up online for many years (I do get emails periodically from WDW but NEVER for room codes).

I too would like to know how come certain people get these room codes and other don't.

I haven't been in the last 3 years, you'd think they would send room codes to people who haven't been inawhile to get them to come back.

Oh well!! Nothing we can do!

Honestly, I'm on the phone right now with a castmember (a friendly one) who's looking into this for me.

I'm sorry - I'm not accepting any excuses for this. It is simply not fair that 1 person is paying literally HALF of what I am paying for the exact same resort, exact same time.

Let me know what happens....I tried and called twice, but got NOTHING!!!! I even e-mailed disney(5 days ago), and haven't gotten a response!!

I've been to Disney over 10 times, 4 times in the past 2 years, going in 2 weeks, and going again in May for my wedding and honeymoon.
You'll never get a code because they know your going no matter what. Codes bring back the occasional guest. That's my take on it.

We have never been to Disney on a trip that we planned (we went with DH's office once). I got a code yesterday and the only thing I know for sure is that I registered on the Disney website, listed that we were coming May 30 but selected "other" as where we will be staying. My guess is that if you register on the phone or their website and the know you are staying on property, WHY would they send you an email code for a discount when they know you are registered at rack rate. Sounds like smart business planning to me. Try starting a new email address at yahoo or msn under DH's name or your name if all your previous stays have been under DH's name and see if you get anything. Also, register again on their website, but don't say you are staying on property and see what happens. It sounds like a LOT of people got codes in the past two days for trips from mid April throught July 4th.

Before 1992 - I went to WDW twice a year for about 11 years straight.

From 1992 - 2001 - I went once

in 2002 - I went once

I don't think the number of times has anything to do with getting a code or not. I registered online years ago, I do get email from Disney but NEVER codes and I've only been twice in over 10 years, I've even made reservations a couple of times and cancelled - you'd think they'd want me to come back. I think it's just random because I've read threads where people get these codes every time they come out and then there's the people like me who have NEVER EVER gotten codes.

Please tell us what the said!!!

I hate the fact that I have never gotten an email code. I think it is unfair. :(

And if you get thise specail code, why can't you share it with friends or family?

I just read my email more carfully and it is because I ordered the vacation planning kit that I got the email. It starts out saying that the kit is on the way-so try registering for that and see what happens.

I just did so I guess I'll see if I get a code or not. Would love one as that would be the only way I could go in May.

just tried to register in my DM's name and it didn't even ask me if I was going to disney, or what hotel I would be staying at.

Yea, I also tried to register with DH name and it didn't ask me anything like that either. I guess we are destined to NOT get any codes EVER.

I don't buy that - I order a vacation planning kit EVERY year, just to have, and I've never gotten an email code.

I am just relating my experience. I registered on the Disney website in late November and ordered the video a few weeks ago. This is the only contact I have had with Disney because our reservations have been made through a travel agent.

It's Marketing Disney style 101 to be sure.

They are targeting specific people/demographics, etc with these codes.

I got a code for use this past fall. I could not use it :guilty: . Why do I think I got it? Well, we had been to WDW the past 2 Januarys, and had always had our hotel reservations planned by the end of August. I have absolutely NO knowledge, but I suspect, they were trying to entice us back.

I really don't think it's worth getting angry or upset over, it is what it is, and I doubt any of us will ever know how Disney chooses to send out cards or emails.

Debbie <-----------keeping fingers crossed for another code THIS fall.

Actually if you go with a code once they try to lure you back with a code again. We don't get the email ones but I do get the postcards. When we stayed at BC with a room code the following year about 10 months after our trip I got another room code for the Beach club. When we stayed at the Coronado one year with a code we got the promo for them the following year. It is frustrating to pick and choose people to get codes. When we checked in last time at the BC I felt bad because our rate was $100 less per day than the person next to me- He pointed that out to me:( I thought for sure they would give him the rate but no way he got stuck and I am sure it ruined his trip. I still have not gotten a code for what I need this year.

Not necessarily. My mom went on a postcard code in 03 and has yet to receive another postcard or email since.

Hummm. Now how about this situation, I called to ask advice on whether to wait for a code, or book a room and then when I find a better deal to call them with it. The CM said to book the room so I am sure to have one then call back when I see a better rate and they will give it to me. After reading these posts, I wonder if I will ever get anything because they now know I am coming regardless, right? Anyone see that point?

I did order the vacation kit a few weeks ago and I have registered on their web site but dont see anything about codes yet.

I think I am going to register under my husbands name and see what happens. I know that after you register you have to plan an itinerary and that is where it will ask you where you are staying, it did when I registered myself, at that time I put no accomadations yet, but now we do hve them so they might see that.

All so confusing. The CM told me to watch the Disney website for lower rates, can we count on those if we dont get an email code??

They do have public codes that you can apply to an existing reservation, sometimes just as good as an email code or sometimes a few dollars more. Either way your saving off rack rate.

I know that this has been mentioned before, but it's worth repeating; if you don't get an e-mail or a postcard, you can still call and ask if there is a code attached to your profile on their computers. We called to book a AAA rate in Dec. and were given the code rate instead. (Jovidan, am I the one you are talking about? We're paying $88 (incl. tax) for POFQ May 7-14.) Funny thing was, we didn't know about a code and the CM never mentioned that it was a code rate. When I started seeing posts about the e-mail PIN codes about a week later, I realized that maybe that was why we got such a great rate. I was concerned, though, because we didn't have an e-mail, or a PIN, or anything. We called back and the CM told us we didn't need an e-mail, it was attached to our profile. And, to this day, we still haven't received an e-mail. So, my point is, call and ask. It can't hurt and the worst they can say is no.
