Actually, it was on another message board, but now there's another one!!!

I called and she said there was nothign I could do since it was booked through my travel agent, and my travel agent said there's nothing SHE can do.

did you pay for it already??? if not cancel and rebook yourself. This is why I always do everything myself. It really is cheaper. Good Luck!!

Please dont flame me either

I got a postcard over the summer and used it fora trip in sept
I got an email last week and now im hoping to use this for a trip before july 4th
i dont know how they pick who gets them but im glad i do ...
sorry....... :guilty:

Can I ask, if there is a code out there, can't we share it? Why is it such a secret? If I get an email code,(and it looks like thats a big IF) am i to really think that I am the ONLY one to get it? I don't understand?

Thanks for rubbing it in...lol....just kidding...I am glad you got a code, I just don't understand why everyone doesn't get the code and they have a certain amount of rooms for that rate and when they sell out they sell out......it's not fair!!!

Because most of the time, these email codes either have a pin number that can only be used by the person it's addressed to or there is one attached to your profile at Disney which can only be used by the person on the profile.

the e-mails have pin numbers that are attached to your particular household....no one else can use them...doesn't that stink!!!!!!

For those of you calling and asking if you have a code or PIN attached to your profile, do you already have reservations? If not where are they getting a profile of you?

They will have your profile if you are registered with Disneyworld.com or if you have stayed at a Disney resort in the past. When we called, we were calling to make a reservation, and the CM verified all our information with my DH. They knew about all our past stays, knew that we travel with my parents and asked if we needed to reserve a room for them again, like we have in the past, knew our birthdays, and knew all our phone numbers (home and cell). They're a little like Big Brother that way.

If you have gone before then they already have you in their system...that's what we mean by profile. :D

:guilty: Um yeah, why do some people get to have fun at a reasonable price but the rest of us have to get stuck paying retail??? I guess thats how they getcha. If you make a reservation at the regular rate and then get a code, you can cancel right? But don't you risk losing the room or will they just apply the discount to the room you have?

If you book and a code comes out, they will apply the code to your existing reservations so don't worry.

Dumb question here! Where are you all registering for the email stuff?

No one really knows for sure HOW to register to get email codes, etc. I have registered with the Disney site and have made reservations through CRO, last time in 2002 and I've NEVER gotten an email or postcard with codes. I also have ordered the vacation package and NEVER gotten codes.

I do receive email from Disney but never codes.

Personally, I think it's random how they decide who gets codes and who doesn't.

I would check again with your travel agent. My pin says that you can book ethier through Disney or through your travel agent. If worse comes to worse cancel and re-book.

FWIW, I was pinless until this go-around, and in times past have had a lot of envy for the pinned. I truly believe that if they have in your profile that you go to Disney alot that the pins are less likely to happen. For some reason they had in my profile that my last trip was in February 2004. They totally lost my August 2004 trip, and the non-DVC portion of my October 2004 trip. Since we usually go in February and ultimately did not go this year, I guess we were finally pinned.

We were planning a June trip anyway, and in this way, at least I don't have code anxiety. There has to be a better way, though.

I just can't see paying $166 per night to stay at a moderate.

I would at least have a AAA discount and switch to a different moderate if I had to switch to get the AAA discount. I understand that it's a special occasion....but, I just could not bring myself to pay that much for a moderate room.

Last year I did this for our late May 2004 trip to Pop Century:

I first called and booked two rooms and asked for the AAA discount. Price per room was around $85 after the 15% discount. I was not a AAA member at the time....but, figured I would become a member if no other discount codes came out.

Then...Disney Visa came out with a code for $69 per night at Pop Century. I had another First USA Visa card (LSU Visa)....not Disney Visa. I called First USA to see if I could convert my LSU card to a Disney Visa. They said..."No Problem". After I did that, I called Disney back and was able to get the $69 rate for each room at Pop.

Then....Disney Visa came out with a 7 for 4 DreamMaker package for new card holders. I forced my Dad to sign up for a card....and we ended up changing our reservations from room only to the package because it was cheaper overall. The package included $100 Disney Dollars per room and that was what made the package better than any room only codes.

Of course, I had to break out my Excel spreadsheet to figure out which way was best....but, everything worked out great.

That's what the DIS does to you....makes you sit there and figure out what is the cheapest possible way to get to Disney World using all the codes, tips, and tricks available to all it's members. Thank God for the DIS! :groom:

Speed :teleport:

Speedyf,

I had an LSU Visa, too, and had to wait for my Disney Visa to get that Disney-code rate. I'm thinking about cancelling my DisneyVisa if no code comes out this year. If one year's worth of code is all that we get out of it, it was not worth it. (even with the Disney Rewards.)
