E-Bay panic

I'm going to give it a few days and see what PayPal come up with but I've been given this link by a member of the E-Bay message board, so that I can file a report:

http://www.met.police.uk/fraudalert/internet_auction.htm

Just in case anyone else is unlucky enough to need it :thumbsup2

My 'seller' has a London postcode so guess this is why it's a London site :confused3

Fraid I'm a bit of a 'Rottweiler' when I'm on a mission................. :lmao:

Hope you get this resolved as ebay seems to be a breeding ground for scammers

My friend recently lost £650 in a scam on ebay!

She had bid and lost on a saddle to come from the US, she then recieved an email to say the winning bidder had pulled out and was she still interested, she was as the saddle would have cost her at least £800 in the UK, she was instructed to wire the money through Western Union to the US and then email Ebay with the reciept number as this would be her insurance if anything were to go wrong. he would then ebay the shipping number, This never came and when she realised she had been conned she contacted Ebay and was told as there was no sign of her being the winning bidder and she had not paid by paypal there was nothing they could do and thier only advice was to contact the computer fraud squad.

I find this sort of fraud very scary, and hope by advertising it i can stop others being scammed in the same way

I've had that a couple of times too. I just delete them as they are fraudsters trying to get money.

eBay is fab when it works but the pits when it doesn't.

So sorry this happened. just wanted to let you know that this happened to me and payapl were very quick to refund me, so don't worry, you should get it back no prob :thumbsup2

It is worth letting people know since Western Union is a scammers best friend

Just a quick update on my dilemma :sunny:

Just received an e-mail from PayPal to say they'll be refunding me my money, all but £8, within the next 5 days :yay:
They never received any response from the seller either :confused3

Thank goodness I paid through them and didn't send a cheque...........! :sad2:

Neither the online fraud squad, nor my local police were in the least bit interested and the seller's still selling.....................

Now to get surfing to find the cheapest 'Tom Tom' deals ;)

Alison ~ Glad you got it sorted out and that you will get your money back.

Glad its sorted - shame he's still doing business :sad2:

Just had a look and he's no longer a registered user :thumbsup2

Guess he'll be choosing a new buyer / seller name whilst he's watching TV then................ :rolleyes1
