E-Bay panic

Last Sunday evening I made a 'Buy it Now' purchase on E-Bay

The seller had a 100% feedback of 90 (although private so I couldn't read them) and offered 1st class recorded delivery.

I've heard nothing at all from the seller, nor have I received the item.
I tried e-mailing him 2 days ago, to no avail, and am just in the process of writing him another to see when (if ) he'll be posting out my item.

Yesterday I received an E-Bay e-mail from someone else who'd bought from the seller, on Weds, asking if I'd received my item
Strange!

I paid by PayPal, using my Visa Debit card (£243).
How long should I leave it before I contact E-Bay or PayPal and do you get cover from Visa debit in the same way you can with Visa credit?

Starting to panic a little now
Can anyone put my mind at rest please?

I would let the seller know in the email you are about to send that, if you do not hear from them you will be contacting Ebay as well as Paypal. I normally wait a week after I make a payment by Paypal, if I have not received item I send an email, if I get no reply within two days a second email is sent informing the seller of my dissatisfaction of them and my intentions of disputing the sale.

PayPal offer a buyer-protection policy and you will be able to file a chargeback request and receive a full refund if you don't receive the item.

This is exactly what I have done - asked when he might be posting out to me and that, if I haven't heard from him by Mon, I'll be contacting E-Bay and PayPal

I noticed he has 2 e-mail addresses - one on E-Bay, the other for his PayPal payments so I've sent to both

Rather have the item I won though

Never had a problem with E-Bay before but guess there's always a first time

I agree with what the people above me just said. I had no idea that you could do that with PayPal!

You could of always found out where he lives and start breaking windows..

I give them 7 days. I am in situation like yours right now. When I purchased item feedback was fine, but since purchase they received two negatives and someone emailed me to ask if I received my item. I always pay with PayPal since I know I am protected and have always got my money back if I didnt receive item.

I e-mailed him / her privately the last time - using the E-Bay address, as I have a tracking system on my e-mail programme.
They received the e-mail 4 hours ago but still no reply......

I want to give them the benefit of the doubt but.................

Well, I posted on E-Bay's message forum and have been told that I should file a report through PayPal straight away.

Apparently the seller has made his 100% feedback by buying lots of things for 1p!!

Ye alot of users acutally either buy and sell 1P items or even get friends to bid on there item(s) over and over again. Ebay and Paypal are always on your side (buyer) =)

Just had another scout around E-Bay and had to smile to myself when I noticed that one of the other buyers, on this guy's auctions, has listed a big ' scammers on the loose - do not bid' type auction with all the auction details

Hopefully he won't be scamming anyone else

I had problems a few weeks ago - luckily not much money and I got it back directly from the buyer but I wouldn't use anyone with private feedback now.

I hate People Like them, all being well you will get your money back and i believe that you reap what you sow, so he will be paid back in my experience , even though you probably wont know about it

I try to stay away from e Bay as I just end up buying things and just can't do with out , thats till i get them home and have to find somewhere to put them

but I wouldn't use anyone with private feedback now.

Good advice. I also do not allow private feedback to bid on any auctions and just delete the bids.
