OK- I posted here several days ago and decided to wait a few more days. Now I need advice. I won a Belle dress from Disneyland for my DD6- thank goodness I didn't tell her! I won the auction two Sundays ago- which would be 16 days ago. I mailed a money order the next day- now 15 days ago. I've emailed the seller to check the status of the item 3 times and have not had one response from her ever. She lives in California and I live in Alabama- meaning mail could be slower. I've called and checked to see if the money order has been cashed- it hasn't. I assume she got it or she would probably be trying to contact me. I've checked her feedback- she's had 3 positives left for her since I won the dress- but she hasn't left any for anyone in almost a month. I'm just concerned. When I checked out for the item, her phone number is at the bottom of her address. DH wants to call her- I don't necessarily think it is appropriate. What should I do? My main concern is that I haven't heard one word from her at all- my last email said I just wanted contact from her to know that everything is as scheduled. Still, not one response. I want the dress for Halloween but can't keep waiting or I won't be able to get one from the Disney Store. I am going to a Disney Store Thursday and I think I will pick up a dress- if they have one in her size- and if the one from DisneyLand comes in I'll take the one from Disney store back. Anyway, I'm relatively new at e-bay and just need advice. What would you do? :confused3

Ok, I am a seller and a buyer. You should call her. That will tell you what is going on. I would just tell her you were worried about it and knew dd would be so disappointed if this did nto come through. If you still do not get anywhere with it. file with ebay stating that item was not received. Can you post a link or pm me her user name. i will check it out to see what i think. I do know our mail ( I am in MS) has been slower since katrina so remember it has to get there and then have time for her to turn it arond. Hope this helps.

I tried to call the number- it is a fax. So, I'm sending a message by DH to fax from his work- no fax machine at home and I'm on fall break this week (I'm a teacher). So, I'll keep you posted!
mommytobug- thanks for the advice! You have a pm!

Oh Tink2-

I am so sorry this happened to you. I have bought alot of things from ebay in the last few weeks and everything comes within days if not within the week. The longest took 10 days media mail from CA- it was a book. Most of the folks are so reliable, but sometimes you get someone who might have had to go out of town or something happened. Hopefully that is the case. Sometimes people do not leave feedback in a timely manner. Can you order the dress from Disney shopping? Their prices are often better than ebay! esp if you use some of the mousesaver discounts or disney visa.... Don't give up on ebay-my experience has been really positive...good luck.

Ok I looked at her feedback and at your auction. She has not sold very mucha nd the one neg she has is from the same problem you are having. I would go into ebay and request personal information. That should give you a phone number. She can be suspended if the correct # is not on file. I know people hate paypal but this is the main reason i use it. Everything is tracked. I would keep checking to see if mo is cashed. She may jsut be slow. I have been slow shipping before but never a month. She has no current auctions but someone just left feedback. I sure hope you get this solved. When you request her info, she will be notified via email They may prompt her to email you.

You have already emailed several times, waited a reasponable amount of time AND tried the phone number--and she has violated the Ebay contact information rule by leaving a fax number as her phone number (specifically stated by Ebay that you CANNOT leave a fax number as your phone number).

You have done everything you could---it is time to file a dispute with Ebay for an "Item not received". I think once she gets that little "reminder" from Ebay, she will contact you. If you still don't hear from her--it is time to report the Contact information violation to Ebay. Maybe a warning from Ebay will get her to change her contact info to a legitimate number---AND knowing that people can contact her by phone might make her follow through with her commitments.

Another possible scenario...she could be away - for any number of reasons. Last year, I was in a similar situation. And later found out that the seller had gone out of town to deal with a family emergency.

You stated that not only hasn't she responded to you or cashed the money order, but she hasn't posted any feedback in response to at least three other transactions. It's very possible that an emergency of some type is keeping her away from her computer and she hasn't been able to get in touch with you.

Just a thought.

::yes::

I think sellers would be more prone to react if they get an official notice from ebay.

Yes, it could be that there is some type of emergency, but if she has received a negative before due to a similar circumstance then that might not be the case afterall. She could just be a procrastinator. :p

GL!

I never use money orders..but can't they have a stop payment on them, like a check? Or is it costly to do that?

Actually that is not the correct information. I do not and have never had my phone number listed with Ebay. It is left blank.

No--that information was correct. Here is a quote with reference to Ebay's contact information policy taken directly off the Help menu in Ebay:

Falsifying or omitting contact information such as a member’s name, address, and/or telephone number when registering on eBay is not permitted. It is also not permitted to use fax or disconnected numbers as a telephone number.

If you believe an eBay member is using false contact information, please report it using the Customer Support link at the bottom of this page.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

Listing cancellation

Limits on account privileges

Account suspension

Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

Loss of PowerSeller status

.
In fact, if you try to leave the phone number spot blank in your contact information---it will say "please use a valid number" and will continue to do so until you enter numbers into those spots. You may want to check your contact information again---you may find that your phone number is there---and if it isn't, at least be aware that you are in violation of Ebay's policy on contact information (I wasn't aware that you HAD to have your phone number on your contact information either until about a week ago when I had a problem)

Thanks for all the help guys! I had DH fax her a message first thing this morning. No response as of late this afternoon. I am fed up- so I filed a dispute. I do feel that after 4 (I thought it was just 3 but I checked) emails to this person with no response, a fax with no response, and allowing 17 days since the auction ended; I have the right to file a dispute. I don't like things like this- conflicts are my cup of tea- but I do feel I am in the right. I have very much so thought that she may have a family emergency- but like DH said- it has been over 2 weeks and no email response. We'll wait and see what happens. I just hate it b/c I so wanted DD6 to have this dress she's wanted since our last trip to WDW.
horsegirl- thanks for the tips. But, this dress is different from Disney Shopping. It is from Disney Land- the ones in the theme parks are much more expensive and more elaborate- more like the characters wear.
Anyway, thanks to all for the advice! I do like ebay, I just tend to stay away b/c things like this just tend to happen to me sometimes!!!
Keep your fingers crossed we can work this out and I can still get the dress!
I'll keep you posted!!

Hey, why dont you call Disney direct and BEG them to mail it to you..........they really may...........I am a DVC member qnd they mailed some things to me for dh with DVC on them.................hope this helps

mommytobug- yep, I have the number to Disney merchandising at WDW and ordered some Jasmine shoes for DD last year. But, the dress alone is $60 plus $10 shipping- $70 for just the dress, no shoes, crown, wand, etc. I just can't put that kind of money into one Halloween costume- which is why I went to ebay. I had won the dress for $32 including shipping. That was a price I was more willing to pay. To bad though, b/c there were 2 Belle dresses up that night and the other one went for about the same price and was from a more established seller with a great record- that auction ended around 1:00 am my time though and I wanted to bid on the first one in case I didn't win. Oh well, I am going to Birmingham tomorrow for other business and will stop by the Disney Store there and buy the one from the Disney Store- in my opinion not as pretty as the ones from the park but DD doesn't even know about this one so it won't matter. If the ebayer comes through, I'll take the one from Disney Store back- if not, she can still be Belle. I'm just glad I didn't tell her about the one from Disney Land!!!
Thanks!

That is the correct information--you have not been suspended because nobody has complained. If a customer complains, Ebay will suspend you if you don't have a correct # on file.
