Please help. I haven't had this happen before on E-Bay and I honestly don't know what to do. Long story short, I sold a pair of concert tickets for just over $300 on Tuesday requiring Paypal only payment within 3 days of auction close and the buyer still hasn't paid. I sent an invoice as soon as the auction closed on Tuesday but didn't hear anything from her until Thursday morning when she emailed that she couldn't access her Paypal account (I thought, well maybe ok because sometimes my computer's browser acts up and I can't either). She asked if I she could send a money order first thing on Friday; I emailed immediately back that no, I require Paypal. She emailed back that a money order was the only way she could pay, I said fine and sent my address. But then she emailed me late Friday asking for my address which I'd already included. I emailed it to her again. Yesterday afternoon she emails that she still had not sent the money order but that she'll overnight it on Monday (tomorrow). Now I just received an email from her saying that she will 'definitely' send the money order on TUESDAY!! I honestly don't know what to do because now I see SHE IS NOW THE HIGH BIDDER ON TICKETS TWO ROWS CLOSER TO THE STAGE THAN MINE, an auction that closes Tuesday night!!!!!!!! Seeing that, I'm freaking out that she's just been stringing me along. Please advise what I should do. I understand people will be people and I can't FORCE someone to pay, but what should I do? I don't want to go through listing these all over again, the second highest bidder to hers has already won tickets and the concert date is approaching. Any advice GREATLY appreciated.... Thank you... Lori

for payment? I try to stick to my terms irregardless. It has actually cost me money now and again to not end an auction early, etc. It is still Sunday... no reason they can not get a money order sent out via overnight mail tomorrow. You have been reasonable thus far. Request payment by close of business day Tuesday (that is when overnight mail should arrive). If they are stringing you along and you put your foot down, perhaps they will come clean and you can relist or offer to your second highest bidder. Either way, it ends the very frustrating waiting game.

Best of luck to you!

Honestly! I would dump her and report to EBAY! She did not follow your terms and go with the next highest bidder. You may lose some money but you are on the verge of losing all of your money.

I had a similar situtation. I sold a jacket asked for payment 5 days after auction ended. I am a new seller only 2 positive feedbacks. I emailed the person and she gave me the run around. I told her new seller or not I have no issues reporting to Ebay and leaving bad feedback. FINALLY she paid and I will ship out tomorrow.

Ebay payments seem to be an issue with many people lately.

Thanks so much for your replies. So now do I reply back to her and tell her I'm filing a non-paying against her if I don't get payment by Wednesday or should I stop communicating with her altogether and just file the non-paying against her immediately (which is probably what she wants since she's now bidding on TWO other auctions!). If I understand E-Bay's policy, once I file against her she will get an email from them reminding her she agreed to pay for the item and will still have a chance to pay to resolve it. If she doesn't then pay, how quick is the whole process until I can re-list these tickets since the concert date is now less than a month away. Thanks again for your thoughts... Lori

Looks to me like she is stalling, and trying to get the best tickets at the best price she can, and is planning to shaft you if she can get better ones. I would also report her to E-bay-- I started using E-bay way back in the old days when there weren't many people on the web, and there weren't too many stupid people like this. I really think that some people believe that because you are an individual, and not a store, they don't have to follow the rules!

I'm so sorry you are having this experience. I think I would also let her know after the latest e-mail that you can no longer wait, report her to E-bay, and try to resell the tickets!

Depending on when the concert is I would do it NOW! I would not take the chance of losing the money. The worse that can happen is she can leave you neg. feedback. I know a friend did it -- reported to Ebay and sold the item the next day. Sure the person left her neg. feedback and she responded did not agree to payment terms. It has not hurt her selling at all. In fact she is why I started selling on Ebay.

Others might have better advice as I am still new at this.

Good Luck! :cheer2:

Sounds to me like she's stalling. I've unfortunately come across this more than I used to on ebay. In the end, ebay cannot get you your money for tickets she never received, yes, they will help but my experience with this has been that it takes a long time and is hard to deal with. By then, the concert will have passed and you will be out the money for the tickets.

My advice to you is to try once more, send her an e-mail stating that you MUST receive FULL payment by Tuesday at noon or you will file with ebay. That gives you enough time to still list these tickets and sell them. If you wait until Wed, it gets closer and closer to that concert.

Bottom line here is that she had plenty of time to get you this money. You have to work with her but you've been more than accommodating. Give her an ultimatum, relist, and chalk this one up to experience.

e-mail the person she is bidding to and explain what she is doing then e-mail her and tell her what you have done and that you want payment straight away or you will re list the tickekts and leave negative feedback I doubt that anyone else will sell her tickets after that

Thanks so much for everyone's advice. I wonder if there's an E-bay rule against contacting the sellers of the auctions she's bidding on now because that sure sounds like it'd be effective!

Do not do this! You can be kicked off of Ebay for it! Then you will be in trouble and she will still be a loser.

OP---you didn't mention if you will have time to relist the tickets before the event.

In any case, you can not file an unpaid item notice with ebay until 7 days past the close of the auction.

Email her one more time stating that payment is due Tuesday....something like this.

"Hello........

As stated on the auction page, for item___________payment was due within 3 days of the close of the auction. That date was _________and as of today, October 16th, I do not have payment.

If payment is not received (NOT sent) by 12 noon EST (or whatever---I would make the deadline before the other auction closes...but that's me!! ) Tuesday, October 18th I will be forced to file a Unpaid Item notice with ebay, and relist the tickets. Bidding on ebay in an auction is a contract to buy this item and abide by the terms of the auction.

Regards,"

You can add or subtract any thing you feel you want in there. It's to the point and non emotional, no accusations just the facts.

Be sure to send it through ebay's message system. Don't answer any other emails from her promising payment, or asking for an extension, unless they are a PayPal notice of payment.

I would wait until Tuesday at whatever time you stipulate and if payment has not arrived, file the unpaid notice with ebay, block her, and relist the tickets. If she answers the unpaid item notice you can reclaim your fees immediately.

She knows the terms of your auctions and she is stringing you along to see if she gets the other tickets.

And as pyrxtc said DO not email any other sellers or bidders about this bidder. Ebay considers this auction interference and is a suspendable offense.

Hope that helps.
Good luck.

As for her being the highest bidder on another pair of tickets ... that might be innocent. Maybe she needs more than 2 tickets.

I would tell her she has to overnight the money order Monday (don't give her until Tuesday!) and she needs to email you the tracking number. They tickets are very time sensitive and you need to have payment ASAP. If you receive your money on Tuesday, you have already allowed her 4 extra days to pay.

Since she jerked you around for almost a week, your 2nd chance buyers may have already found another pair. Also, I find the who second-chance thing doesn't fly with tickets. It usually just wastes a 24-hour period that I could have used to sell the tickets. If you do not receive the money by Tuesday, I would file a NPB on her and relist the tickets.

I contact people all the time. You need to log into eBay and get her personal info using her eBay ID. You will get it in an email with her info and she will also get an email stating you asked for her personal info.
When people do this to me I call them right away and ask what is going on. I have had to call people more than once also.
There are no rules against calling anyone who has won an item from you. Also if she has a fake phone number report it to eBay, they will get warned from eBay and have to put their correct phone number on there.
Hope this helps, Good luck!!

You can defintely call them if you are comfortable. Just be sure to not harrass them or be threatening because that is against ebay's policy.
As for the NPB, as another poster stated, you cannot file for 7 days. So, you'll have to wait that out.

You guys have all been great; I truly appreciate it. Now there are TWO other auctions she's bidding on?!? So, I am now emailing her telling her she needs to overnight the payment by tomorrow afternoon AND provide me the tracking number. ~Kathie, thank you very much for that wording - that's exactly what I want to say, just didn't know how to get my point across. Thank you all again.

Another way to insure you get the payment right away is Western Union. It is really easy to use, just find a Western Union Station near you and tell her to send the money there tomorrow...she sends you a code and you go pick it up. It is easy and you get your money right away.

Remember, there's not a thing you can do to force her to pay. :(

I would relist the tickets immediately (she already has not met the terms of your auction, even though you can't file yet with Ebay) and file with Ebay as soon as you can. You might consider doing an auction that requires immediate payment through Paypal.

Hi guys, just wanted to post an update since you were all so great with your advice. I never heard from the buyer of the tickets so I re-listed them (and she's now bidding on THREE other auctions!) Tomorrow morning I will be filing a non-paying bidder with Ebay. I have definitely learned a good lesson in that if someone doesn't initially honor the payment terms, then I should NOT give them the benefit of the doubt because they're probably not going to pay at all. Thanks again for all the help.
