Dyson's vacumm?

Love my yellow Dyson!! Going on 3/4 years with it... excellent investment!

Today I vacuumed with our whole house vac. Then I borrowed the neighbor's Dyson and tested it. WOW! It picked up a whole bunch of hair.
Our carpets all look awful and I have been saying for years that it's because our whole house vac. was a big waste of money. Finally now DH is convinced.
If I have a longer hair dog should I save up for the purple one, or is the yellow one OK? I have a 20% off at Kohls too but the purple one lists at $549.

We have the a Purple Animal Ball in our SF home, where the dog is most of the time, and a Yellow Ball in our LA house. Both are great, but the Purple most definitely has stronger suction. You really have to watch and clean off the beater bar regularly if you have long haired dogs.

Is it good for hardwood floors ? Or would it scratch them ?

And is it heavy?

I have hardwood throughout my home. Most of it is 75+ year old hardwood. That hardwood is in "vintage" condition. I have not noticed any further distressing of the old hardwood.

Last month we put maple in our one room with carpet. I have seen no scratching of the floors from the Dyson. From kids toys yes, but not my Dyson.

As far as heavy goes. It is somewhere between an Oreck (light) and a cheapy-deepy Eureka (heavy).

I LOVE my Dyson! I have the yellow (DC7) and wil 5 pets, carpet, and tile floors - it is a God send! I got a factory refurbished one on ebay for a really reasonable price. I've had it for more than a year with no problems. I couldn't live without my Dyson!

I have had my Dyson for almost 4 years. I am still very happy.
