DFi and I were at Kohl's today, escaping the heat of Marquette. We were looking at vaccums cleaners. We're slowing starting to decide what we want to put on our wedding registries. He was looking at the Dyson vaccums. We were wondering if there was anyone out there who has a Dyson, because we are considering putting one on the registry. We were looking at the animal one.

I have one! I have the "animal" It's purple and called that because it picks up animal hair very well. I have 3 cats in my house and that thing is awesome! The first time I vacuumed with it I thought I could make another cat out of all the hair it picked up. The vacuum is pricey but worth it.

My co-worker is obsessed with vacuums, especially Dysons...he has a weird thing for vacuuming...it's kinda funny. But he digs the Dysons...

I have a Dyson downstairs and an Oreck upstairs. The Dyson works really well but after using the Oreck it feels like i'm pushing a tractor around. They're really heavy!

I couldn't buy a Dyson because the guy in the commercials seems to have an unnatural fondness for vaccums. We have an Oreck. That guy seems to like vaccums, but I don't see the same lust in his eyes.

I have a Dyson and love it. I have the animal, the only difference in the animal and any other Dyson is the attachments, the animal has an attachment that will get in small places such as stairs, upholstery, cars and the like. It works wonderfully!

I don't have one, but I was looking at them too, and this is why I decided against it.

I asked if it picked up everything as I use and abuse my vacuum (had it 15 yrs. now) and the salesmen asked "Like what?". So I said "You know, Lego's, penny's etc...". I thought he'd have a cow :confused3 Isn't that what a vacuum's for? He said no way, that it would definetly break it and I shouldn't be vacuuming that stuff up anyway. Like I mean to suck up Lego's. They're dark, we have dark carpeting. End of story. So I think I will keep my eye's out for another Sharp (what I have now).Awesome vacuum, never given me a lick of trouble and I've really put it through it's paces.

Yeah - when asked which Dyson I wanted - I said the regular "yellow" one...as I'm not an attachement girl anyway. I don't vaccum my furnture, I "lint-brush" it to get the dog hair off. Except on her chair - I'll just lift up the vaccum and do the chair that way. heheeh

I'm very impressed with my Dyson - love it....it picks up SOOOOOOOOO much more dog hair then my old hoover.

I don't use my attachment much either! So, there ya go! :flower: I would recommend the yellow one and save the $$. The only time I use the part that makes it "the animal" is on the stairs, and I have found that it does work good there. (my furniture is leather, so no need for it there) We have a Maltese and Sheltie, it works MUCH better than any other vacuum I have heard of or had with getting up the dog hair.

bingo.

we have hard-wood stairs - I just swiffer them down anyway! hehehe

and if - down the line - you feel you need the attachements - you can buy them separately.

I have the Animal, with the attachments. I agree- the attachments are terrific on carpeted stairs!

I love it, only had it for a couple of months now.

We got our Dyson around Halloween last year, I love it! I love the attachment for carpeted stairs. I only wish it would vacuum FOR me. :)

The only thing I dislike is that the electrical cor is on the hose. Sometimes I want to use the hose to vacuum something up quick, I hate having to unravel the whole thing.

Dyson has won dozens of design awards and holds patents on several different types of products, not just his vacuum. Now, if only he could make that vacuum silent....

After reading so many post about how so many people love their Dyson I went out and bought one 2 weeks ago, and to prove to my husband how great it works I had him vaccum the living room with our old Hoover and then I came behind him with the Dyson you would not believe what I picked up. I love it. now I vaccum my carpet and tile floors all the time.

That is my only complaint as well. But, otherwise I love it! And I didn't buy my Dyson to pick up legos and pennies. That's what the kids are for. :teeth:

We love ours. And we had the same experience - we borrowed an Oreck when our vacuum died to see if we wanted one, and it's so light, it's great, but the bags are really expensive and it doesn't have any attachments. We ended up buying the Dyson, and I vacuumed with it right after I used the Oreck, and it was shocking how much it picked up. We love it. And I love the wand on the handle thing. That's so great for reaching up and for doing the stairs! But I agree, it's a little on the heavy side. Of course, you never have to haul it upstairs (because of the wand) which is always why I minded the weight on other vacuums...

I am trying to convince dh that we need the Dyson. I have an upstair and downstair vacs....that work fine but I want the Dyson....My dd just bought one and raves about it....She is coming for a visit and I have asked her to bring it along....so I can show dh how much better it is....He read that darn Consumer Reports article on vacs and showed me that Dyson didnt rate in the top vacumns....He is convinced that CR knows it all....

I keep looking for a good vacuum. Last time the salesman convinced me the "Panasonic" was a GREAT vacuum. Not really. Where can you buy a Dyson??? About how much are they....I would want the wone with attachments for stairs.
Thanks!

The base model comes with anything you'd need for stairs. The animal model has an extra head with a spinning brush to help with animal hair. We don't have that feature, but have never had any trouble getting anything up without it. The handle is attached to the hose, and it just unclips and will stretch the length of a regular staircase with no problem, so you can leave the vacuum at the bottom and do the whole thing - very nice.

We got ours on-line, and that's how I've found the best prices. They also carry them at Linens n' Things, but not always the base model. Usually somewhere between $400-$550 depending on the model, but no bags or filters to buy ever, so that helps. It's bagless and you just rinse the filters. And, BTW, you can always buy the attachments later if you decide you need them, although they may not be color-coordinated.

Man, I sound like I sell these, but really, I just like mine.
