Dying Crinolin (sp) Question???

I have a front loading High Efficiency Washer. My problem is this, the washer does not "FILL" with water. Sounds crazy but anyone who has one will know what I mean. So I am wondering (and I think it will work) has anyone used their bathtub to dye the crinolin?? I figure I can put hot water from the tap in and then just add some heated water from the stove to make sure it is hot enough. In the bathtub I will have plenty of room to move it around while it is soaking, and then it should be easy to rinse also, I could even use the shower head to help rinse it.

Has anyone else used the bathtub for it????? It will be either the bathtub or I was thinking of one of those big totes that you store things in but I was thinking it would be too cramped in the tote. And cleaning the bathtub shouldn't be an issue, my tub is grey, cast iron so I am not worried about that just having the room to move the thing around while dying it.

Anyone done it this way??

I used my bathtub and it came out just fine. You might want to be cautious of staining though. The smooth parts of the tub washed off just fine with regular bathrrom cleaner, but I really had to scrub the textured parts on the floor with bleach to get it clean. Mind you I did use dark brown dye so it might not be as difficult with lighter colors! But with a cast iron tub you shouldn't have a problem with that anyway!! I loved the way it turned out and the fact that I could control how dark/light it was by just taking it out early and draining the tub.

My friend has dyed her daughters pettis in those plastic tubs and they have turned out great.
