Has anyone done Rainforest Cafe on the DxDP? I made reservations but my confirmation said it was not available on DxDP, but was available on the regular DDP. I was surprised. However, all the appetizers look huge, so I was not sure how the DxDP would work for Rainforest Cafe. Has anyone had experience with this? Thanks!!:goodvibes

The online system is notoriously unreliable for that type of information. There are no restaurants that are available for basic DDP but not DxDP, and vice-versa.

Rainforest Cafe was added to the plan this year, so there have been few reports yet. There is no reason not to believe that any appetizers would be excluded, except any that would imply they're designed for multiple people, such as the "Awesome Appetizer Adventure".

I do agree that many of them look quite... overkill for a single diner, but there's nothing saying you have to order an appetizer for each diner, either.

The online system is, as Faldred already pointed out, ridiculously unreliable for such information. It is best to go by the official .pdf brochure for accurate restaurant listings (but keep in mind that snack locations aren't generally listed so don't be surprised by that!).

We didn't go to Rainforest, but we did eat at T-Rex on the dining plan last month. We were on the basic plan so no appetizers, but there were no exclusions or upcharges on any entrees and we were told that the huge, multi-serving extinction dessert could only be ordered as dessert for four (and it was plenty for 6!). I would expect to see similar rules at Rainforest since it is the same parent company; expect some of the larger appetizers or desserts to be "for two" or maybe even "for four".

As far as huge appetizers go, though, they are included at some restaurants so it could go either way. The nachos at ESPN Club are easily a meal for two but on the DxDDP they're an appetizer for one!

Not Rainforest Cafe, but we used the DxDDP at T Rex just last Friday when we were down there. They're both owned by Landry's. We were told the only exceptions were the appetizer sampler (required two credits), the Meteor bites dessert required two credits, and the Extinction dessert (required four credits). I got the appetizer with the dual dips and my husband got the quesadillas. Both were huge. The waitress said her favorite appetizer was the Colossa Nachos and tried to get one of us to order those. We did see an order come by a little later and they too were huge. Just FYI: their desserts are really huge also. That ice cream sandwich I got was easily 6"x6"x3" and my husband's key lime pie was a quarter of a pie. What's funny is the meteor bites (donut holes) requires two credits, cost the same as the ice cream sandwich, and are alot smaller.:confused3 The people next to us ordered them and were disappointed they'd wasted two credits on them (especially after seeing my huge ice cream layered dessert).:rotfl:

Just ate at Rainforest Cafe on Wednesday (Feb 15 2012)...used DxDDP and they most definitely accepted the dining plan with no issues. The food was excellent, by the way, and service very good too.

I had clam chowder for my app, turkey wrapwith chips as entree, and coke for my drink (waitress made sure to tell me that sodas/coffee/tea were unlimited refills, but smoothie was available as the DP drink as no-refill beverage.) I was full, so they packed up the multi-layer chocolate cake to-go for my dessert (including small snap-lid comtainers with the raspberry sauce and the chocolate sauce)

Were you able to choice from any of the appetizers on the menu? Thanks!

was not allowed to order "for two" appetizers on the menu (was dining solo) Waitress pointed out the single-order appetizers that were available to solo diners.

we will be on the regular dining plan and will eat our first dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. Just a quick question, is there a big enough selection for children for entrees as well as dessert? Thank you:)

Yeah, RFC/T-Rex look to have some of the most extensive kids' menus on property.

I agree! We had my three y/o GS down there Feb 4th-11th, using the DxDDP. This is a kid who does not like your typical kids menu, so I was a little worried about him finding something to eat. His favorite meals for the whole week were Paradiso 37 and T Rex. At least he ate the most at those two restaurants.:rotfl:
