DxDDP Appetizer Question

We're thinking of going with the Deluxe plan over the Christmas to New Year's week due to lots of character and signature meals we are planning (and to get out of the crowds for awhile!). Can you order a soup or salad as an appetizer? Or are you strictly limited to the appetizer menu? Thanks!

It'd be the appetizer menu but those are generally standard options anywhere I've gone.

You can order anything that isn't an entree pretty much.

For example at California Grill you can order soup or salad or a flatbread or sushi as an appetizer (there may be some of the more expensive sushi offerings that can be ordered as entrees only but they will tell you which ones, if there are any.)

On the DxDDP, an appetizer can be chosen from the sections of the menu called starters, soups, salads, flatbreads and even some sushi. If a salad is listed in the entree section it can not be ordered as an appetizer.

I have been on the DxDP 3 times (and about to start my fourth in 9 days!) and the app menu is always anything in the "starters" like other posts have said.

I have gotten soups, salads, and everything in between. If it is an "entree" salad, it will count as an entree (such as the LTT salad at lunchtime is an entree), and it's really obvious to tell the difference. Almost all of the menus now are streamlined to make ordering the DP easy (the only exception to this is DTD restaurants that have more extensive menus).

Just be careful about apps/desserts "for two" or "for four" USUALLY require two people to use their credits, though this is not consistently so. Example: my brother was rejected when he wanted a "for two" app (the dim sum basket) at Yak and Yeti, but got a "for two" app at BOG no problem (the meat/bread board).

This is often the difference between a restaurant that is operated by Disney (like BOG) and one that is not (like Yak & Yeti.) The third party restaurants are less likely to allow guests to deviate from a "hard line" or ordering or substituting on DDP, and Disney restaurants will often be more flexible. A third party restaurant may be less likely to allow you to do things like order an appetizer for 2 with one credit, order an appetizer as your entree, or order a child's meal with an adult credit. Via Napoli actually goes further and does not allow DDP guests to share credits (for example, they won't let a party of 2 use one credit to buy an individual pizza which both people eat.)
