DxDDP and Character Meals

During my research, I've read that Character Meals require payment at the time of reservation (for example, the Royal Table). My question is, if we plan on using our 'credits' for the character meals, do we still have to pay for the Character Meal at the time of reservation? If so, how can we use our 'credits' for the meal?

Only Cinderella's Royal Table and the dinner shows require prepayment at time of booking. If you plan to pay for those with dining credits, say so when you book it. They will still take your credit card number for a no-show fee if you don't cancel and don't show up for the reservation.

Of the other character meals, Akershus requires a credit card guarantee whether you are paying using dining credits or not. No other character meal requires prepayment or a credit card guarantee, so it is entirely irrelevant at the time of booking how you plan to pay.
