Dwarf Mine ride with a 2 year old?

That's funny that you say that about the TV fillers. Is it possible, you are remembering the Jimminy Cricket educational shows? If you ask someone in their mid-60's how to spell encyclopedia, I bet some will be able to sing it like Jimminy did!

I don't think so. This was in the 80's and I can't recall Jimminy Cricket on them. I really just remember that opening poem form Alice with a little music, and I think the items described kinda fly past. I dunno, it's pretty fuzzy.

My grandson at 2 1/2 just missed being tall enough to ride SDMT last October- By this past June he was tall enough for that as well as splash and TOT. We worried ourselves for weeks as to whether we should let him ride Splash or TOT, but SDMT was a given, since he had a fit to ride it in October.

He rode them all- multiple times. If yours is adventurous, he'll probably be fine. I wouldn't try and push him to, but if he's willing, I'd go for it.

Thanks for the memory! I'm in my 40s, but my mom is in her 60s and whenever I spell "encyclopedia" I can hear her singing it - that's where she got it from!

awesome. Glad to hear this. I guess we will see!

My 2 year old son is tall enough to ride (39.5 inches) and pretty hardcore as tots go. Think we should try it or do you think it may too scary for him to process being so young?

Thanks

Your two year old is the exact height of my 4.5yo twin boys. I am really hoping my gain the extra half inch by September so they can go on all the 40 inch rides.

I really think that your boy will like the mine train. It is a lot of fun and very smooth.

As always .. someone else asks the same questions I want.

Thanks for responses everyone.

I hope my son (who will be turning 3 ON our day at MK) will be 38" tall to try SDMT and Barnstormer. (I think he is around that height with shoes at this point .. he doesn't stand still long enough to measure him).

I have an additional question. Is the Queen and/or old hag shown in the ride .. or is just the dwarves mine? My son is a little scared of the hag from Snow White.

The old Hag is only at the very end and if your not looking for her next to the cottage you'll miss her.

One other thing i choose to put my arm around my daughter to help her not bang her head at all on the back of the seat. But she absolutely loved the ride and was 2.5 at the time.

My cousin's 2 year old was tall enough the last time they were there and she said his face kept hitting the restraint. She had to hold his forehead back so he did not keep hitting it. He was probably just at 38 or 38.5" then as he is now 39.5. His twin sister was too short then, but is now 38.5" so I do not know if they will give it another try with both when they go in September.

We never had that issue, but it did remind me that when my grandson rode the first time he had his head thrown back hard enough that it hurt a little so the person riding next to him always kept their hand behind his head on subsequent rides. He's right at 41" tall. Keep in mind, he insisted on raising both arms the entire ride because all the big people did and that probably added to his problem.

ive been wanting to tale my little one on it too but was worried about the seating...my mother wants to ride everything with her grandchild (of course) but i also want to ride everything with my only child hahaha is it just a two seater? what is the best way to be able to let BOTH of us ride with her without having to get in line twice and wait the crazy wait times?

My rule of thumb is that if they are big enough and are willing to board the ride with you, TAKE THEM! Don't allow kids to develop of a fear of the unknown. If they think too hard, they'll talk themselves out of it before they even get on. If they don't like it, they don't like it, but I've found in most cases they end up loving it, or at least not being afraid to try something else.

My daughter and I had that issue too! lol Unfortunately, it's 2 per seat so for both of you to ride with your child, you'll have to ride twice. I will say it was as much fun sitting right behind him watching his reaction as to sitting right next to him where you feel the need ( or at least this over protective grandmother did) to hang on to him the entire ride. If you can manage to sit behind them across from your child, you'll have a decent view of them.

We rode multiple times over several days so it wasn't really much of an issue. There were 4 adults and we let him choose who to ride with each time.

As said above, the witch is at the end. Specifically, she's on the right at the far end of the cottage. So if you're looking at the scene inside the cottage, don't look too long. ;) Also good idea to have adult sit on the right so that you can block if necessary.

It's possible to miss that scene entirely, but it's also possible that you'll sit by it for a while. Just depends on how unloading is going ahead of that spot.

thats good to know...we are probably going to be spending just one day in MK so we wont have time to ride it another day hahaha maybe i can get a good view sitting behind her and across like you said, since i doubt my mother will give up the chance to ride next to her! hahah

thanks for the heads up! my daughter is pretty fearless hahaha but who knows, she might get spooked by the witch! hahaha

If you have memory maker, they put a video on there of your group on the ride set to music. It was a pretty cool thing to come home and watch. I think there was a video on there for EACH we rode it as long as we remembered to scan our Magic Band.

You don't have to load this one to your magic band....the ride automatically loads it (as if by magic). pixiedust:

Wow, so many adventuresome toddlers out there! My son (5 1/2 years old at the time) and I rode 7DMT for the first time last year and it scared the dickens out of both of us! :earseek: (But I am a self-admitted scaredy cat when it comes to roller coasters, which I wasn't when I was young and unaware of the temporality of life, ha ha ha.)

I just read here that the front is tamer than the back -- I wish I'd known that back then, because we were in the back and my son's head got slammed around a few times. We would *not* have described the ride as "tame" or "smooth!"

It's a very easy ride that my (3 now 4 yo) kid loves but she is very scared of the evil queen when she turns into the old crone woman and poisons Snow. Our deal every ride is she boards first (so I'm closer to the Evil Queen when we go by lol).

Always good to watch a YouTube of a ride with littles to prepare them ;)

I've just ridden 7DMT 2 weeks ago yesterday and missed her completely! I had periods of blindness on that ride - quick, like 20 seconds, so maybe it was then (my friend pointed out Snow White and the Prince dancing and it was a few seconds before I could see it. :( Maybe I was too focussed on that or it was while I couldn't see ... if I go in August (wish I knew if I was going!) I'll be sure to look out for the old hag!
