Dwarf Mine ride with a 2 year old?

ive been wanting to tale my little one on it too but was worried about the seating...my mother wants to ride everything with her grandchild (of course) but i also want to ride everything with my only child hahaha is it just a two seater? what is the best way to be able to let BOTH of us ride with her without having to get in line twice and wait the crazy wait times?
Sorry, my eyesight's gone so I HOPE I'm responding to the question about riding twice without getting in line and waiting for the crazy wait times. If so, please correct me if I'm wrong because it's something I've never had to consider, but don't they have child swap? Where one waits for the other and then they swap over? I know they do at Universal but I thought they did it at Disney. Just a thought.

If you have memory maker, they put a video on there of your group on the ride set to music. It was a pretty cool thing to come home and watch. I think there was a video on there for EACH we rode it as long as we remembered to scan our Magic Band.
i've thought about getting the memory maker…i wasn't sure if it was worth it…they are able to catch you on every ride? thats pretty awesome…now that i might would think be worth investing in…i didn't know they did all that…i figured it was more just taking the usual disney pictures…in front of the castle, character meetings…etc.

Wow, so many adventuresome toddlers out there! My son (5 1/2 years old at the time) and I rode 7DMT for the first time last year and it scared the dickens out of both of us! :earseek: (But I am a self-admitted scaredy cat when it comes to roller coasters, which I wasn't when I was young and unaware of the temporality of life, ha ha ha.)

I just read here that the front is tamer than the back -- I wish I'd known that back then, because we were in the back and my son's head got slammed around a few times. We would *not* have described the ride as "tame" or "smooth!"
hahahah my toddler has always been a little daredevil! she will do just about anything once! last year, we took her to MK and she was just 14 months…we put her on every ride that she could get on…and at times, she would be "aware" of the things going on around her, but never did she cry or scream out in fear…and after every ride, she would give me a little hug and a kiss as her way of letting me know she enjoyed it! hahaha we have tried a few "carnival" rides with her at local theme parks and she LOVES them now thats she's 2…so this year at disney, I'm all about getting her on the mine train! hahahah

i THOUGHT disney used to offer this…but i haven't had a child very long hahah 2 years…and this is our first time having to experience anything like this…i might could ask a CM when we get there, but if thats the case, that would be GREAT!!! hahaha i'll have to look into that!

I'm pretty amped that OP started this thread. Up until now I thought SDMT was 40" but now that I know it's 38" me and my DD3 are definitely riding this as she's 38" with no shoes. I showed her a ride through on youtube and she was pretty excited about it. I'll try to ask for a front cart though to have the smoothest experience. I'm gonna try to get a fastpass for this in September do you guys think I should still go for barnstormer also or use it on another attraction?

See, now, the first time I took my son to WDW (at 3 years old), we brought him on BTMRR as a test. At the end, he was white as a sheet and whispered to his dad, "I liked that . . . but I was also really scared!" So we've avoided the big rides until then. Based on the YouTube video and the reports that 7DMT was gentle, I got us FPs last year -- and we got the surprise of our trip! (Our Memory Maker photo and video showed both of us gripping onto our seats, with our eyes closed, ha ha ha!)

There are several mentions to try Barnstormer first and that is a good idea if this will be the first coaster experience. But I will note that I thought the Mine Train was WAY smoother of a ride than Barnstormer. Barnstormers is bumpy and rough even though it is a kid coaster and very tame. The hills and turns may be larger on Mine Train but you don't get off feel like you got jostled around and bumped your head on the back. That's just my 2 cents...but wanted to put it out there anyway.:thumbsup2

Yes, I recommend putting your arm behind your child's head. My 4 yr old hit his head on the back of the seat when it sped up.

If this was around when my niece was 3, minus we did Disneyland, she would've rode it! She's a daredevil and has been since we first took her to Disney. As previous posts have stated, he has to sit in his own seat. Not be in the last row also, unless you want to be thrill ride literally. My niece was over 3' tall at 3 when we took her to DL and people were like "How old is she?" LOL

I just want you to know I LOVE your screen name!! It holds a special place for me because of a delightful gift shop in a town where we used to spend in the summer. :flower:

"The time has come," the walrus said, "to talk of many things.
Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and Kings.
And why the sea is boiling hot and whether pigs have wings." (L.Carroll)

It makes me smile!! My daughter was Alice for Halloween one year because I love the quote.View attachment 108806

That's such a gorgeous costume! Yes, I love the books so much and can't wait until DS is a little older so I can read it to him. And did you know that it was originally supposed to be a butterfly or a baronet instead of a carpenter? I want to drag my mom to see the exhibit about the book at the Morgan in NYC.

My daughter loved 7DMT at 2yrs 8mos so I vote go for it! I do recommend putting your arm around your child to stabilize them and prevent their head from hitting the back of the seat. (I also do this on BTMR and Splash).

My 2 year old son is tall enough to ride (39.5 inches) and pretty hardcore as tots go. Think we should try it or do you think it may too scary for him to process being so young?

Thanks

He'll love it. It was my 3 year olds favorite ride in December. She was mad the line was so long and we couldn't ride it a million times...

My understanding of the child swap is it's for when the child does not or cannot ride that the parents can swap. While one parent/adult rides the other waits with the child, then the adults switch.

My 9 year old nearly cried. So there is always the outlier. My nearly 3 year old son won't be tall enough to ride it for a few years (short genes), but I think he would really like it. His twin sister who will probably be tall enough would probably kill me if I tried to take her on it.

Another vote for putting your arm/hand behind your child's head. My kids (age 2 and 4) both LOVED this ride but they both also banged their heads pretty hard when it sped up.

I would try Barnstormer first My 6 year old I would not take on it but she is very small and just 40"

We had a little boy that was around his age in front of us when we rode, and he loved it! It's not a bad ride. The majority of it is spent in the tunnel for the little show.

Just got back from a trip to WDW - took our 2.5 yr-old DS on the Mine Train. It was his first time on a roller coaster of any kind, and he loved it! I put my arm around him during the ride to steady him and didn't have any issues.
