DW vet wondering if this is done at DL

I'm going to Disneyland next month and was wondering if these also apply at Disneyland (they do at Disney World):
1). For counter service meals, can I choose not to have the sides and therefore be charged less for the entree?
and
2.) I like to budget for my trip with Disney gift cards. Do all areas of Disney including all stores and restaurants in Downtown Disney accept Disney gift cards for payment?

Sometimes but not always. You just have to ask at the restaurant. For example, I know that I have successfully ordered a la carte at the Little Red Wagon corn dog cart on Main Street and the Hungry Bear in DL. It is not possible to exclude the sides though at Award Wieners in DCA. I don't know of a comprehensive list of where you can and can't order without sides.

No. Only Disney-owned places accept Disney gift cards. The World of Disney store in DtD and the other Disney owned stores will accept Disney gift cards. Build-a-Bear, RideMakerz, Lego store, DtD restaurants and so on don't take Disney gift cards. Some or all of them accept Disney dollars, but I haven't tested that in a while, so I don't know if it's true anymore. Also, Disney dollars are only available at the parks and on-site hotels and World of Disney store these days. Another exception to the Disney gift cards is the Ghirardelli shop in DCA.

I would also add that the balloon sellers do not accept Disney Gift Cards (they're cash only).

Hi.

I also use Disney GCs to pay for items at WDW so I was wondering about using the cards to pay for meals in Cali.

Are all the restaurants INSIDE DCA and DL Disney restaurants so that they would accept the GCs?

There are several stores inside DL that also wont accept gift cards. They are independent stores who rent a spot, and are not disney stores (the glass store on main street is one)
