We head to AKV Kidani a week from tomorrow! My DW had surgery on her foot and can only walk short distances, so we rented a wheelchair. At the bus stops we will fold it up like a stroller and should be OK. What is the policy in the park for rides and shows? Never had this situation.

We use a transport wheelchair for my mom at WDW as she can walk with a cane, but can't do the distance involved in a park visit. We have never had a problem with the wheelchair for rides and shows. Sometimes there is a separate line for you to go through and sometimes you are in line with everyone else.

There is a pamphlet for each park for guests with disabilities. It will show you the amount of mobility a guest will need for a ride. Ask when you check in. I found my pamphlets at Guest Services at DTD when I had ankle surgery. I would think all Guest Services would have the pamphlets.

WDW is wonderfully wheelchair accessible.

Have a great trip!

:)It is wonderfully accessible. I can understand the benefits of a WC but I think that a scooter would give her more mobiltiy and independence, plus save your hands from getting blisters. You will get those quickly, just form going up and down the slight inclines around the park. I can perfectly understand, too her issue with maybe loading the scooter on the bus. It would bother me the first two times,too...then I would be over it and just not worry what anyone thought.

Kidani is a long resort on both sides...longer that what I could imagine and we were one the second floor half way down.

Scooter companies will deliver directly to the resort and pick it up in the lobby when you leave.

Which ever way you travel, have a terrific time.

:thumbsup2 Re read your OP and see that you are AKV/Disney experienced...never mind my suggestions and have a great time.

I am sending this over to our DISabilities board since it is not DVC specific. Thanks all!
