DVR Question

I've got all the Season 2 episodes of Lost on my DVR. My question is, could I unplug the DVR, bring it home, connect it to my TV and watch the episodes at my parents home? They *don't* have cable TV, however, if I am understanding correctly, the shows are digitally recorded on memory inside the box. Do you have to be plugged in to the cable to watch the videos?

I don't know if this is the same, but we lost power and still had all of our recorded shows saved.
