Can you rent dvd's for the car ride at Cracker Barrel restaurants? If you rent at one location, can you return at another?

Try your local library. Ours has a ton of DVD for free.

Yes, this is probably the best advice, however we will be gone over 2 weeks and will have to time renting them right before we leave and then renew when we are away.

Call Cracker Barrel. About ten years ago you could rent from one Cracker Barrel and return to another.

Not sure about dvd's - never thought of looking, but as pp said, know they used to rent books on tape or cd's and you could return them at any other Cracker Barrel. Might be worth asking about the dvd's if interested.

I don't think they (Cracker Barrel) called it "renting". IIRC, you could purchase a book on tape at one, then return it to another for partial credit.

No need to renew. Just pay the late fee when you get back. Our library charges twenty five cents a day late fee

I'd echo the sentiment for red box. Plenty of locations to pick up and drop off. Around us, they have them at places you'd normally stop - like gas stations, Walgreens, grocery stores.

We would probably rent around 10 videos, so not renewing would be almost $3 a day, for 10 days would be around $30. I can renew easily right on line but I would just have to remember to do it.

I have the memory spanof a goldfish so anytime I rent something (or even have to pay a bill for that matter) I put a friendly reminder in my cell phone to let me know a day in advanced and the day of.

Go with Redbox - on our last trip we rented some in NC when we stopped for lunch and returned them at Publix in LBV the next day. On the way home we got them at McD's in Jacksonville and brought back when we got home. At $1.50/day, you really can't beat the price.

Great advice. You can also reserve a movie if you know the day and place you will be renting from.

I went to Cracker Barrel over Thanksgiving and they only had DVD's for sale, not rent. Somewhere around $10-15 depending on the title. They were pretty much older movies and TV shows and nothing Disney was there.
