Arriving at All Star Movies on Monday (YEA!) and will have 14-month old grandson with me. Had a thought this morning that I should take some movies to watch while he's sleeping, so I have a two-part question:

1. Are there DVD players in the rooms? and if not,
2. Can you hook up your own DVD player with the appropriate audio/video cords (the ones with the red/yellow plugs - can you tell I'm technically challenged?)

Thanks!! Can't wait (BOY is it hard to actually concentrate on WORK with only FIVE days to go!!)

Hi DisneyMom,

1) There are no DVD players in the rooms - at least the resorts I've stayed in.
(AllStars, Pop, CBR, and the Poly)
2) You can use your own (you need to have your own cables too).

We play back pictures and videos from our cameras on the TV at the end of the day.

Thanks - that's pretty much how I figured it would work. I'm putting a little DVD player in the pile to take (driving down so have room to take extras) along with those cables and a converter box my DS thought I might need. Now if I can just figure out now to hook it all up once I'm there!!!

Wow - good thing I'm driving - taking packNplay, stroller, my luggage, some bottle water, lots of diapers, DGS's luggage (amazing how much little ones need), PLUS DS#1 and DIL's big suitcases to keep them from having to pay baggage fees to USAir (they fly down 12/11, I'll arrive by car 12/13). AND picking up DD from Orlando airport Monday morning ! Whew!!

Good too I'm driving down in THEIR SUV instead of my convertible!

I am SO ready to be on my way!!! My boss just keeps shaking his head at me!

Just wanted to note that there are DVD players in all DVC rooms.

Wow that's good to know about DVC rooms - I'm actually considering purchasing DVC - have to make sure my DGS grows up a Disneyphile like Grandma!!

We stayed at CBR in June 2009 and there was a DVD player in the room. It wasn't obvious...if I remember correctly you had to open the doors to the cabinet under the TV and it is on the very top shelf...so if you are standing looking down...you might have missed it. But, it was there as we used it at night after coming back from the parks.

We stayed at AKL Jambo House Savannah View-nonDVC and there were DVD players in those rooms as well.

Have fun.

Small problem, unless you get a refurbished room with a flat screen (Which i'm pretty sure is only at POP), you will not be able to hook up most DVD players & Laptops. Their TV's i've have never noticed to have all the correct hook ups (red, white, yellow audio/video ones) unless they're on the back of the TV which would be a pain to move out of the dresser.

The regular/tube TVs at Disney IME have all had a set of a/v jacks on the front. And even if this is not the case, they will be easy to get to on the back as the TVs at ASMo aren't in cabinets but instead sit on top of the drawer unit.

I just know that most of the drawer units at the All Stars are alike. The ones at sports and music both are in a drawer unit with grid like shelving. maybe a few inches between the tv and those shelves, but if the hook ups are in the back, you'd have the pull the whole tv out to plug them in.

Yeah, but it's completely open on one side. http://allears.net/acc/asmv116.jpg
