DVC's and Other Destinations???

I was looking at the cruises (Alaska in particular) and there are a few other areas I was interested in (possibly in other countries). Does it make sense to use the points for these other destinations??? Does it work out to an advantage for those who have the DVC points or does it only work out to the better if you go to a Disney resort??? And how many points does it take to stay at these places, is it always more than if you stayed at a WDW resort???

I really feel it depends on where you want to go and how much you value it. I feel the points needed for an II exchange are equitable if you are going to an exotic exchange, but probably not so much so if it is a run of the mill domestic exchange. I don't feel the Concierge Collection is a good value at all, because you are exchanging for a stay in a regular hotel room, but if staying at The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island has been a dream of yours, then maybe it's a good value.

We have exchanged into Hawaii for a 1 bedroom unit for 160 points for a week. Not a bad value to my way of thinking, but it might not be a good one for others. So you see, your question is very subjective.
