My wife, son (4) and myself need your thoughts on these 3 dinner shows......we are almost at the 6 month window to make our reservations...

Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue

Mickey's backyard BBQ

Disney's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show

Please any help would be great

We went to the Hoop Dee Doo show over spring break and loved it! Lots of singing, dancing, corny jokes...fast paced and very funny. We were with teenagers and they laughed the whole time. Not so sure how much a 4 year old would like it, but there were lots of young children in the audience when we went. I would definitely go again.

Hoop de Doo was lots of fun. Food was so-so to me.
Backyard BBQ was not as much fun, food was a bit better.
Luau was horrible, didn't like the food, the kids fell asleep. And this was when they did the two different luaus, one regular and one with Mickey and Friends. We did the one with Mickey.

If you only do one, do Hoop De Doo.

Hoop De Doo is the gold standard, I would spring for cat 1 seating if you have never been before.

Cat 1 Hoop de Doo for sure.
Went a few weeks ago as 4 adults and loved it.
There was a little 4 year old girl sitting at the table behind us that was having a BALL! She was totally enthralled and singing and dancing in the aisle. We got a kick out of seeing how much fun she was having.

My girls were 7 and 3 and we did Hoop de doo last trip and they LOVED it. We have also have done the spirit of aloha and they liked it but it lost their attention. I have never done the BBQ.

My 5 yr old daughter loved Hoop De Doo and even my 2 yr old son was fascinated and even laughed during the show. Wife and I enjoyed it as well. Very good BBQ and alcohol included. Great value for price paid.

Best of the three by a long shot: Hoop Dee Doo and 4 year old will be fine with it. The luau is OK but not much for 4 year old. The BBQ is somewhat mediocre and can have mosquito issues. Note, if you want to try something that is the best show but not a dinner show go for Cirque Du Soliel: La Nouba.

Another vote for HDDR. Went last week. Cat 1 seating. 4 adults, 4 kids (ages 10,8,2,1/2). Everyone had a blast. (Well, maybe 6 month old couldn't really relate).

Hoop Dee Doo! Their fried chicken is really great, and that's coming from a Southern girl! LOL! Just went recently with the tiny grand princesses and their parents for the first time in years. It is corny, vaudeville meet saloon show, but fun. Lots of food, and most of it pretty good. And a HUGE strawberry shortcake for dessert! When my now young adult son was 4, his 2 sisters a little older, he laughed so hard he was almost crying. I have a really cute photo somewhere of him looking through the railing on the mezzanine just guffawing. So fun...

Spirit of Aloha show was real bad and the food was easily the worst I have ever had on Disney property.

We have an ADR for HDDR in September, I hope cat 2 seating is okay because that's what the CM assigned us. We are on the DDDP

I think all the seating is fine. Cat 1 puts you up front and more likely to have interaction in the show but I've been very happy with Cat 2 also.

OK I will make it unanimous and go with Hoop Dee Doo. We have been quite a few times and love it. Also been to Spirit of Aloha and will not go back. It is outside and subject to the weather even though it is covered. The food was OK at best and the show was not very entertaining. The older show this replaced several years ago was much better and I just can't see why they keep this version going....smjj

Hoop Dee Do, corny but fun, a must every time we bring someone new to Disney! It's an initiation!

Hoop de Doo. I haven't been to the Backyard BBQ, but I have been to the luau. The Hoop De Doo is much better than the luau. My four year old loved it. I thought the food was ok at HHD but was expecting better. The baked beans and chicken were delicious. The mashed potatoes were not good. The ribs and shortcake were so so.
