A couple years ago, we were at WWTBAM play it when WebmasterDoc got into the hotseat. I do know he has had numerous visits to that special chair, as has Caskbill. So how many DVCers have made it into the hotseat, how far did you get, and how many times have you been in the hotseat?

I got into the hotseat last week, and it was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I suspect DVCers have more time to do this game, since we can "waste time" at WDW without having to do all parks all trips.

That is so neat! Any advice for a newbie as to how to get into the chair? I just love Who Wants to be a Millionnaire!

good for you Diane!!! I have only gotten as far as #3 on the board. How far did you go?

I made it to the 250,000 question a couple of years ago. It was about Ansel Adams. I made a guess since I was out of life-lines and I was wrong. I have made it back to the top of the board but never at the right time.

I was cruising along without having to use any lifelines until I got to the 32,000 point question. The question was: Who was the only hispanic woman to appear on an American postage stamp? I had no idea, so I polled the audience. Unfortunately, they didn't really know either, but there were more with the answer I was thinking of, so I went with it (Eva Peron). Unfortunately, both the audience and I had the wrong answer. I should have used another lifeline, but for some reason, that never occured to me! DOH! It was fun though.

Congratulations that you got as far as you did! I think this practice will help you get there again. What is the answer to that question?

Bobbi :)

So, what was the right answer? Was Frida Kahlo on a stamp?

Do you actually win prizes or is it just for fun?

Kudos, shantay1008! According to the USPS' website, you are correct: http://www.usps.com/news/2001/philatelic/sr01_043.htm
Oooh, lucky guess! Of course, if I was ever in the hot seat (?), I'd probably forget everything I've ever known.

Poor Diane is probably wishing she was back at OKW since it snowed about 10 feet here last night. My husband's out plowing and I can just see the top of DS3's head as he plays in the tunnels his dad is making in the driveway. :)

12 trips to BCV and 4 trips to the hot seat! And I swear....we only go once or twice a trip....usually the MGM EMH (morning) and the first two shows of that day. 3 out of the 4 times I got in the hot seat was a result of the prior contestant losing, the other time I actually was the fastest finger! A question about putting the order of the stars they appeared on SNL. So, the bottom line, I never have gotten past the 64,000 point question. I have 2 shirts, 4 hats, 4 lanyards, and a bunch of pins. And I'm terrified every time I go into the show! :thumbsup2

Our DS (12 at the time) made it to the hot seat 2 years ago. He had a plan to not read the question and enter B C A D as fast as he could. We almost died when that was the order of the answers. We then knew right away he won. Initally he was excited but then he becamet really scared and had second thoughts about going to the hot seat. He went for it and did great! Got to 16,000 points. It was educational since he learned a new vocabulary word - azure. Now everything is azure and not blue. "Boy, the sky sure is azure today!"

In January, we were able to sit in the audience for a live taping they were doing in Orlando. That was another cool experience.

WOW! Congratulations, Diane! :wizard:
I'm a perfect audience member, as I always swear I knew the answer after it was revealed... :teeth:

Nice going Diane!

I've been in the hot seat 5 times. Best I ever did was get to the 125,000 point question. I go a bit brain-dead in the hot seat. Seem to do better in the audience.

DisneyHappy: I saw some of those tapings also. Went to all five of the Thursday shows, which were the 'College Week' shows. The tickets they made available to DVC were a nice perk.

Wow! What a great perk! We requested our tickets through the show's website since we were not DVC members yet. However, that visit is what finaly made us take the plunge after five years of talking about it! (These boards were also a major help in pushing us over the edge as well!)

My DW was listed as being in first place when they told us the game was over. I've finished no higher than third on the board.

i made it to the hot seat once. i got to the $64000 question. I got in using the fastest finger question. Before i went into the theatre i said to my girlfriend that i was going to push B-D-C-A as soon as the keypad lit up. I didn't even listen to the question and it just so happen that that was the order. the fastes time besides min was like 2 seconds. mine was .49 seconds.

Hi, My 18 year old son made it into the HOT Seat when we were in WDW in Feb.(he had gone to MGM with just his sister-so I MISSED IT! :sad2: ) He got the fastest finger ,but he DID NOT just guess. He also made it to the $64,000. and came away with a hat, shirt and pins! He said it was a lot of FUN and NEXT time he will WIN the CRUISE!! Joan

I've made the hot seat 7 times so far. Due to the 30 day waiting period after you've been in the hot seat, it's really only possible to get in once per vacation, then wait till the next trip.

Highest I got was to the 250,000 point question. But did make it all the way through 32,000 4 of the 7 times.

Doc may post, but I do know he made it all the way to the 1,000,000 question (but missed it).

Congratulations Diane. Welcome to the DVC-HS Club.... :teeth: :teeth:

Someone asked for tips: So here's a couple. For the fastest finger contest, almost always the winner is someone who just guessed. By the time you've figured out the answer, someone else has punched in. Pick a sequence, and as soon as the lights come on, enter it. You've got one chance in 24 of having the right sequence. (4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 24) (If you go to 6 shows, and do that each time, your probably of getting in becomes about 1 out of 4. Pretty good odds. (Assuming someone else isn't doing the same thing and punching in even faster than you are.)

If you get to the hot seat, take your time. Use all the time they give you. And don't forget lifelines.

I got into the hot seat the first two times I went to the show on two separate trips and got to the 64 and 125 thousand levels--

What was the first toy advertised on national TV--used two lifelines and guessed wrong between Slinky and Mr Potatohead (answer below)

What dance was the craze after the charleston? Same thing 2 lifelines guessed wrong---Lindy or Jitterbug? (answer below)

Last time I figured I would just waltz into the hot seat again and when I did not I became obsessed and wasted too much time trying again (5 shows ) before I got into the hotseat again and lost on the 8000 point question.

Which Fast food place opened a drive thru in China in 2000? KFC Wendy's McDonald's Taco Bell-- I went with the 89% of the audience that was WRONG!!
It was KFC--turns out they are crazy for KFC in China...hamburgers not so much....I should have figured...

Answers: Potatohead and the Lindy.
