Calling all TimeShare gurus...LOL.

Ok, we own DVC (LOVE it! :cool1: ) but DH wants to go somewhere else this year in addition to 2 Disney trips. I won't trade out or rent my points, since we will use our points at DVC (and that is usually not the best use of Disney points anyway...another topic...lol).

Anyway, clearly the DIS is "the" place to go for non-owners wanting to rent a DVC timeshare. I have surfed a bit and found many timeshare rental sites, where you can get great deals for stays at other timeshare resorts. (Just like renting DVC is a great deal for non-owners when compared to rack rate.)

So my question is...is there a particular website that is "the" place to go when looking for other timeshare rentals? As I said, there seem to be tons of them out there, so I thought I would come to the experts for advice and recommendations. If you do not feel comfortable advocating for (or against) a particular site here, please feel free to PM me.

Thanks DVC family!

Try these:

tug2.net
redweek.com
bidshares.com
myresortnetwork.com
and last but not least, ebay

These sites offer rentals and sales. Just be careful you are renting from an owner that actually owns the week and not an exchange week (it's against II's and RCI's rules for people to rent out exchange weeks).

Another thought, do you have a family member or friend that is a member of Interval International? There are some great deals on cash Getaway weeks, especially if you can go off season.

www.skyauction.com

you need to make sure you are bidding for a timeshare not a hotel. I would never bid more than $100 - but I mostly stay in Orlando anyway... :rotfl:

the ad should say 7 days and the extra payment should be $195 - no talk about airplanes.(they are also $195)

plus be careful - any questions ask here - or on tug (you already have its website)

if you have a friend that has a timeshare and exchanges through either RCI or II - they both have getaways - II calls them getways, RCI calls them extra vacation (although last call is a much BETTER price).

here are II getaways
www.condodirect.com - but you can get a better deal thru the II site. Plus this doesn't have all the timeshares - Marriott don't appear here - but do on II getaways. some others also don't appear.

You can also try a local craigslist for the area where you are looking to stay. I see a lot of great last minute deals there.

I use redweek, myresortnetwork, and www.tugbbs.com. I've also used vrbo. There are definitely a lot of rentals out there, good luck!

WOW! You guys rock! I knew that DVC'ers were the right group to ask this question! Thanks so much! I have already found some amazing deals! :cool1: This is definitely not as much as planning a Disney vacation, but hey...planning a vacation is fun nonetheless!
