Isn't it supposed to do something extra like change the colors of the Mickey head

It should be automatic at the park entry touch points.

Not just MK. Ours also had the special colors at DHS & Epcot (IG & Main Entrance). Haven't been to DAK lately.

Lifted some 10% off cash out of my wallet too! I am actually having buyers remorse now. I decorated my last magic band with a Cinderella theme and I really love it, but now I feel like I HAVE to wear the 25th anniversary one since I laid out some cash for it.
